Chapter 9(Only Exception)

Daryl headed back in to the tums, leaving me and Beth back in cell block. I was resting on the bed,running my fingers along the small baby bump that was completely visible due to how skinny I was. I got up from the bed and walked out to see that Rick had come back. The look on his face when he was holding that baby was priceless "Beth I'll take over" I said grabbed the spoon from her and continued stirring the food she was making so they all could go out side. The sounds of gunfire made me jump. Then they all rushed in carrying a women "Who the hell is this" Daryl asked walking out of the cell block "Y'all gonna wanna see this" He said walking over to me and grabbing my hand and we all walked in to the cell block to see Carol. Rick gave her a hug first followed by Hershel then Beth and the baby "How are you doing?" She asked pulling me into a tight hug "I'm doing good, I'm glad we still have you with us" She pulled away and smiled at me "So I hear your called Mrs Dixon now" She said with a big smile looking at Daryl "Let's not make a big deal out of it" Daryl said crossing his arms "Yeah it is" Rick said with a smile "Especially now days" Carol said taking the baby from Beth. As Daryl, Rick and Hershel went to talk to the women that brought the supplies. "She's beautiful" Carol commented "What's her name" "Daryl has been calling her little ass kicker" Beth said with a smile "Avia for the love of all things good in this world don't let Daryl name this little one" Carol said placing her hand on my baby bump "Believe me I won't" "Glenn and Maggie have been taken" Rick said as he entered the cell block "What?" Beth said with wide eyes "there in this place called Woodbury". Everyone got there stuff ready to go I followed Daryl outside and help him load up the car "I want to come with you" He looked me over for a moment "I need ya to stay here" I crossed my arms "Don't ya give me that look it's not just ya anymore, ya also need to think about the baby" He said looking down at my stomach and placed his hand on it "I'll come back to ya I promise" he said kissing my forehead "Carol keep an eye on her for me" He said before getting into the car. We watched as the car drove down the dirt drive then disappeared "We named her do Judith" Carl said making me jump at the sound of his voice "That's a beautiful name" I said with a smile "They'll come back" "I know" I said trying to sound confidence. But the what if hung heavy in the air.

Helping out with Judith was able to give me some practice for when I had my own little one. Judith had her head against my chest resting her soft breathing was so soothing "I'll take her" Beth said with a smile taking Judith from me. I walked up stairs and sat down on the mattress. I was about ready to lay down when the red haired prisoners walked  "So what's the story with you darling?" He asked with a huge smile "You know the guy with the crossbow?" "Yeah the red neck, what about him" "That's her husband" Carol said crossing her arms "And I doubt he will be to friendly with you if he finds out you've been checking out his pregnant wife". He walked out of the cell hanging his head is shame "Thanks for that" "Yeah who knows what would have happened if Daryl had saw that" she said claiming up on the top bunk. I had s dreamless sleep. I could get my mind off the fact that Daryl might not come back. I woke up the next morning and made my way to the common area, where there was a whole bunch of new faces "Avia" Carol said handing me a bowl of food "Thanks" She nodded and I sat by Carl he looked over at me "You can have some of mine if you want for the baby" "I'm good trust me Carol will make me eat or Daryl will when he gets back" he smiled and turned back to his food. Beth walked in with Judith to get her a bottle and all the new faces looked at the baby girl in aw "How old is she?" "Barely a week, Avia here is about two months" "Beautiful" the woman said looking at me then to Judith "How are you feeling?" She asked Beth. We all looked at this woman with a hint of sadness "She's not mine" Beth said looking at me and Hershel "Where's her mother?" No one said anything and she looked at the ground "I'm sorry". I got up from the my seat and walked back into the cell block with Beth "Hopefully they will be back soon" Beth said sitting on her mattress "Hopefully" I said placing my hand over my bump. It was my turn to help with Judith, I passed along the cell block gently rocking her and humming her a lullaby, her little hand was wrapped around my finger, I heard a car pulled up outside "Daryl" I told myself with a smile. I watched as everyone else walked into the cell block, but no Daryl "Hey, where's Daryl?" The all looked up at me, Beth took Judith from me and gave her to Rick Carol walked up next to me and grabbed my side and tried to lead me away "Rick?!" Still no answer. I looked over at Maggie who had tears in her eyes "Come o. Sweetheart let's get you some rest" Carol said in a soft voice hurt in her eyes. I pulled out of her arms "What happened to Daryl!, and don't try to play it off as its nothing" "His brother was there at Woodbury" Glenn said looking me in the eyes "He left with Merle" My eyes widen I felt tears run to my eyes and I felt my legs go weak, I started to fall but Carol and Maggie coughs me and helped me to my cell. I heard them tell me that everything was going to be ok but I couldn't bring myself to talk. How could he leave this group? How could he leave our baby? How could he just leave me?
