A living nightmare. Hell. Whatever horrible place you could think of is probably just another way to describe the time between Niall's departure and graduation. The whole six weeks, I had Lauren taunting me and making my life miserable. Not that I let it show to her, of course, she'd only just laugh at my pain.
The first week after Niall had left, he called me once a day. But now, at the end of the six weeks, he only called me once a week. It was hard for him, I know. With recording, interviews, signings, and all that other famous people events. But I missed him and wished we had more time to talk.
Today was the day I had been waiting for, though. May 21st, also known as graduation day. I would finally be rid of Lauren and all the other fake bitches in this school. Hopefully I would never have to see any of them again.
Lindsey and I were currently getting ready over my house being that we had to be at school in twenty minutes. We already had everything done, from our hair, to makeup, to nails, and dresses were on. The only thing left was the caps and gowns, which we would t put on until we got to the ceremony.
"Finally!" Lindsey yelled as we were driving. "We'll be free!"
"Tell me about it!" I laughed. "I can't wait to be rid of Lauren. She hasn't stopped talking shit about me ever since Niall left."
"You know she's just jealous of your relationship with Niall, right? She obviously is just a fake fan who wants nothing more than to be a girlfriend of someone famous."
"I know, but she still gets to me." I shook my head. "But whatever. It's done. I'm done. No more of it."
I pulled into the parking lot and parked the car before Lindsey and I walked inside to the gym where the ceremony was being held. Everything was decked out in our school colors with streamers and balloons, and it finally really felt like graduation day. I could swear my insides were about to burst from happiness. That is until Lauren started walking in our direction.
"Hello, ladies." She faked a smile.
"Not today, Satan." Lindsey said back before we started to walk away.
"Don't your mother tell you it's rude to walk away when somebody's talking to you?" She said with a sickly sweet tone. "Oh wait, Cammie's mother was gone before she could be taught anything."
"Just shut it." I said. "I'm sick of you acting like you and your life is perfect."
"It's more perfect than yours." She smiled. "Is anyone even coming to see you graduate?"
"No, but honestly, that's okay with me. I've got my best friend here, my other best friend could be on the phone in less than a minute, and I have a lovely boy waiting to fly me out to London after graduation to see him. So maybe I don't have good parents, but I do have people who care about me and nothing you will ever say or do can change that."
She looked taken back by my outburst as I smiled for real and walked away with Lindsey. That felt extremely good. Being able to stand up for myself was something I always wished I had the courage to do. And now I had.
A few minutes later, the principal got up on the stage and told everyone to put on their caps and gowns. We all did what we were told and took our seats in alphabetical order. It sucked that I wasn't able to sit next to Lindsey, but at least I was last and only had a girl on my left. I think her name was Beth Vogel, but I wasn't quite sure.
"Cammie!" I heard someone whisper shout. I looked at the row in front of me and saw Lindsey was seated about three people over from the person in front of me.
"What Lindsey?" I laughed as I replied.
"I don't know, it was getting awkward for me because no one was talking up here." She shrugged as the girl and boy on either side of her gave her a strange look. "What? You guys weren't talking so I needed someone to have a conversation with."
