"Fire!" Flower yowled.
Everyone gasped. Rina's son taking Rina's place shocked the whole crowd.
River looked a bit pleased that his best friend would run alongside Flower. Maybe it would change things for him and the others. Maybe, he would be able to live the way he wanted.
"I am honored to stand beside you, Flower." Fire mewed touching noses with the shecat.
"Well, that's great." She said dully, and rolled her eyes.
Fire felt the coldness in her attitude. He just wanted the ceremony to be over with, so he stepped down and went to go fix up his new den. He walked to a crevasse in the rocks by the camp's far wall, and slipped into it. He removed his mother's old bedding, and put in fresh, feather-lined, lilac-smelling, bedding. He sighed and laid down in it. He already missed his mother. He missed her warm, ginger-brown fur brushing against his side.
He realized that he needed comfort. He padded out of his den, realizing that he had been in it for far too long. He looked up at the already night sky.
'I should go to sleep...' He thought to himself, looking around. He couldn't bring himself to go into his den alone. He still needed that comfort.
"Tiger!" He called.
Tiger woke up to the sound of her mates voice, predicting that he wanted her to stay with him. She padded into his den and looked at him lovingly.
"No need to worry now, my love." Tiger whispered into his ear, nuzzling his neck lovingly.
At the sound of her soothing words, Fire fell asleep beside his mate.
