It had started a little over a year ago. Lightning's trouble.
River was nice, but so was Wren. She did not want to take a mate, not yet. She wasn't ready. She felt great sorrow at the thought of breaking any of their hearts.
Now to the present. Her best friend was pregnant, she was torn between two toms, and Flower was the leader.
Great.
Well at least she wasn't Storm.
Lightning never particularly liked storm anyway.

Lightning sat in her den, relaxing on a particularly cold afternoon. She wondered when winter would come, and if the organizers would have to bar in camp to protect themselves from the tide this year.
She didn't really care about the second pondering much, except for the fact that Tiger wouldn't be able to build the wall. She was the best organizer after all. Camp would probably be flooded this year. Oh well.
The first problem was really her concern.
She was a hunter, and must hunt for the group.
      Obvious.
The group needed extra food for the winter.
      Even more obvious.
      Connect the dots yourself.
The group's lives practically depended on her. Well, not really, but she did play a big part in the survival of her group. Fall was the season of hard labor and back breaking work.
Sigh.

Lightning  got up. Better get to work, she figured, stretching out.
She padded out of her den and padded out onto the beach, she spotted a crab waddling into the ocean and sprung after it. She grinned as the warm beach wind flowed through her fur. She Pounced on it as it waddled into the water. Sploosh! She bit into the crab's hard outer shell and killed it.
Bringing the crab back to camp was easy. Explaining why that was the only thing she brought back was the hard part.
     Thankfully nobody questioned her.
She went back to sleep immediately after dropping it into the pile.
     SIGH.
