We woke up and got ready. Mom and Dad were away for business so we had the place to ourselves. Em walked over to her place to go talk to her sister, Ruby, and make sure she's OK. She will meet me at 8:00 so we can get to school. I saw as she dissapeared into her home. Half an hour later she came out. I studied her outfit. She has pretty good taste, but half f the clothes she has I buy for her, so I guess I'm the one with good taste. So I glare at kids who say she has bad fashion taste, but I bet if they knew I picked out her outfits they'd say otherwise. She was wearing black leggings with a soft grey, long sleeve sweater dress. She wore dream catcher earrings and necklace , both brown. She wore black combat boots and put her long hair into a messy bun. Her glasses were on top of her head.
"By the way, did I tell you I liked your shirt?" She said as she hopped into my car. "You're the one who bought it for me" I replied. "Exactly," She stated, as we drove off to school. We parked the car and headed inside, her to her locker and me to change my scheduel to match hers. I ignored most of the girls but occasionally winked or smiled in their direction, causing girls to swoon. I got my scheduel changed but when I got to Emma's locker she wasn't there. I searched every classroom and hallway before I started getting seriously worried. Where is she? This isn't like her.
I went to the back of the school, and sighed. Emma is like a human chameleon, she's good at blending in. But not this good! Suddenly I heard a groan, from a girl. I turned to the back of the school to see Aubrey and some of er sluts kicking some girl on the floor. I gritted my teeth. I hated bullies. Aubrey kicked the girl again in the stomach, causing her to cry out in pain. "You little slut! What are you to him? Friends with benefits? You're disgusting! Pathetic! I hope you kill yourself so that I don't have to look at your hideous face again! What are you, blackmailing him? I hope you die you stupid bitch!" Aubrey screamed. The girl seemed to be coughing blood. One of the girls behind her broke the beaten girl's glasses, and kicked her to the side. She was covered in so much mud, I couldn't recognize her. Finally I had enough.
I walked behind Aubrey. Her and the rest of her goons were too focused on the girl to notice me. Aubrey reached her foot way back, as if to kick the girl again. I reached down and lunged for her foot, and lifted it above my head. This caused Aubrey to do a flip, and land face first in the mud. Her girls gasped as I glared at them. I said "Listen ABBY-" "Aubrey" "Amber" "Aubrey" "Autumn" "Aubrey" She kept correcting me. "Listen BITCH! I don't care what your name is and I don't give a DAMN about you! But you're so desperate and pathetic you can't take a hint because you're so IDIOTIC!" I shouted. She seemed stunned. Ha, eat THAT! "If you EVER touch this girl again" I said pointing to the girl on the floor "I Will personally see to it that you and all of these blond MONKEYS have you're reputations DROPPED so low, not even the RATS will dare to look at you!" I said. These girls only cared about their reputation. "Do I make myself CLEAR?" I said. They all nodded fast. "But Cam-" Said Aubrey.
I slapped her. Hard. "Get out of my sight." I growled, as she and the rest ran away. I looked down to the girl, who was looking at her smashed glasses. "Hey you need help?" I said. "Cameron, you should know me better than that, you don't need to ask." She turned to me and smirked. It was Em! I was more angry now. I should've killed them when I had a chance. "What!? That's why you weren't here? I'm SO sorry Emma if I were here sooner-" "Shut up, you're ugly whenyou poout." She said. She got up, but I could see it was painful, and brushed some dirt and mud off her outfit. Not that it helped. I could see that the girls yanked out her bun, so her hair was wild and dirty. Her face had scraps and dirt on it, but she was still smiling. Her outfit was ripped and covered in mud. Her glasses were snapped beyond repair.
"So, you get your scheduel changed?" She asked. asdfghjkl! WHAT? "Emma, you just got beat up, why are you acting so... normal?!" I asked. She shrugged, "I'll have to get used to it eventually, you're not always gonna be there." She said. That hurt.... and I was angry. I was her best friend! She NEEDED me! "Emma, you need to stand up for yourself because if you REALLY believe I won't always be there, then I guess you have to start now!" I said. She opened her mouth to say something but I spun around already and headed to my new class. I sat down, I was already late, but the teacher wasn't here yet. There was this one girl who kept trying to straddle me, but I kept pushing her off. I was too upset, and I regretted what I said to Emma. But I had my pride, so when she apologizes I'll start being nice to ehr again. The teacher came, and Emma wasn't here yet. Five minutes later she came. The class laughed at her, as I tried to hide my shame. It was too late now. She sat down in the back of the class and started taking notes.
Eventually it was the end of the day and I waited at my car for Emma. I was her ride home. She walked out of the building, glanced at me, and walked away. What? She always rode with me! Is she mad? She's NEVER mad! She couldn't hold a grudge no matter what! I drove beside her. "Hey why aren't you riding with me? Are you mad? I'm sorry" I meant it. "No, it's just.... I think you're right..." She said. WHAT? When was I EVER RIGHT?! "What are you talking about?" I asked. "Well we won't ALWAYS be together FOREVER. I mean, I think we need some space. If something happens, we would just be too hurt. We can still be together but, I shouldn't have to keep depending on you, learn to be my own person. I'll always still be your bestfriend, but I need to not be JUST your best friend. I need to discover myself." She said. There were tears in her eyes. Mine too.
"Hey, you're not just my bestfriend. And I understand. But I'll always be here for you, and I know who you are. You're Emma Palmer, the smartest and most beautiful bestfriend anyone could have. And you're the person I love most." I smiled. She was crying, as she hugged me. I was trying not to cry. "You know I love you right?" I said. "I love you too," She said. "Now get in loser we're going shopping," I smiled at her. She got in as we drove off.
