Emma was back, she was laying in my bed, snoring away. Her blue hair splayed around, her glasses pushed up to her face. She must've forgotten her hazel contacts and decided on keeping her eyes brown for the moment. I haven't seen her in three days, and I missed her. Clover walked into the room, after having a brief conversation with my parents for the first time. Their hearts broke to know Emma 'died' while they were on business trips. And they were overjoyed to know I made another friend, Clover, or 'Olivia' as they know her as. They thought she might console me about Emma, and then they left to go comfort Emma's little sister Ruby.
"M!" Clover shouted, shaking Emma, or her gangster name 'M' awake.
Emma burst up from her slumber, already in a fighting stance. Her glasses were crooked against her face, and her hair tangled and frizzy from her sleep. For a moment, she seemed a little more like her shy, dorky, nerd who I was best friends with. Of course, she never changed. But it gave me a sense of nostalgia none the less.
"What? What happened?" She asked, trying (and failing) to make her appearance a bit better. Was there some faint contour lines along her cheekbones? She doesn't wear makeup...
"Nothing, that we have to tell you at the moment. How did it go?" Clover crossed her arms and stared at Emma. Emma huffed and bounced into sitting position on the bed. She paused and turned to look up at me. "Cameron, I don't think you should hear this at the moment. I brought you into enough shit as it is, I don't want you to become a target."
I crossed my arms and furrowed my brows. "I've already been attacked and I'm clearly a target. I'm in this as much as you two are, and I want to know everything," I demanded. Emma bounced back up and gave an angry glare to Clover. "WHAT?!" she screamed. Clover pushed her shoulder as Emma sat back down on the bed. "We'll explain after you," she said. Emma's glare hardened but she didn't argue.
"I disguised myself and went to the Omega's house. He was having a party and decided to get... fresh," she blushed. Me and Clover jumped where we stood and screamed."WHAT?!" We shouted, causing Emma to wince. "I'm going to kill that bitch!" My hands curl into fists as adrenaline and anger pump through my veins. How DARE this Omega guy -"Already done." Someone interrupts my thoughts.
Clover stares at Emma like she's crazy. "YOU KILLED OMEGA?!" Clover asked. Emma killed a gangster? Well, she's killed someone before. But those were hired henchmen I believe.
Emma nodded. "He was drunk as hell. I gave him a lot to drink, I was about to kill him when he figured out what was going on and tackled me. He tried to kill me, but I got the gun away from him. I ended up suffocating him with a pillow." I feel sick at the thought. Emma, pressing a pillow into a man's face, him squirming to get out and running out of breath.
I ran to the bathroom as quickly as I believed was possible, neither Clover nor Emma follow me. Once I was finished, I wipe away the vomit from my lips and sneak to the doorway. I can hear them talking.
"Ginger? SHE came for Cameron? Not some henchman like last time?"
"It was her alright."
"We need to stay away from Cameron, I don't want him to be in danger because of me."
"No, it's too late. He knows there are gangster wars. He knows you and I are breaking laws by still breathing, and he knows they are too. They have a target on him, but they still don't know YOU as well or hardly at all for some reason. We have to stay close to him, for safety. M, it's the only way."
"I don't know Clover, I feel like if I never joined you and Monster everything would be back to normal..."
"Well, it's too late now. Cameron's in danger and we have to protect him."
"Will he have to drop out?"
"Maybe. His little 'Misty' girlfriend went, so he won't be safe there. He wasn't doing so well in school anyway."
"But he has friends there!"
"Players and assholes and whores and douches who use everyone around them. They are just like him, M. I told you to leave everything behind. And that included him. If you were never friends with the self-centered bastard you might have gone to college already, but you stay for him. You could've gotten a boyfriend, but Cameron is over protective but isn't good at protecting. You wouldn't have been bullied at your school. You wouldn't have been as damaged as when we first found you."
"..."
"You know I'm right, don't you M?"
"Shit happens I guess. Too late to turn back now."
"You think a lot like Monster, doncha?"
"..."
"Still surprising why you turn him down."
"My heart belongs to someone else."
"Does Cameron know?"
"He'll probably be the last one to find out. He always was..."
At that moment, I walk in and wipe more spit from my mouth. "Sorry guys. Just, never mind. Clover, did you tell her everything?" I asked. I already know, though. I'm not dimwitted enough to tell them that. Who is it Em loves? I didn't know Clover disapproved of me.
"Yes, she did," Em said. "I can't believe you had to try to sleep with the first person you saw once I left." She playfully punched my arms, but her eyes were like daggers.
I was tempted to say, 'Well once a player, always a player. Right?'
But I didn't want to prove them right.
But Em is always right.
I even admitted I was a player.
"I got to see a gangster's bra? Doesn't that count for something?" I chuckle. Emma chuckles also, but I can still feel the tension. She doesn't think this is a laughing matter.
Meanwhile, Clover rants about how she was this close to getting Ginger.
