Tessa was looking a little green. "Did anyone bring sick bags with them?" She asked quietly, a hand clamped over her mouth warily. "I think I'm about to be sick." She explained. Magic could protect you from items of magical origins, but these were mundane. That wasn't going to be useful. Everybody shook their heads. Tessa nodded feebly. "It's okay, maybe I'll-- BLEGH!" Tessa vomited on the lap of the stranger next to her. "Oh, my. Gosh, I'm sorry!" She squeaked. The stranger gave her a dirty look and left for the bathrooms. When he was put of earshot, she burst into laughter.
"Whoop. That was awesome!" Lily exclaimed, excited by the plane. Catarina frowned. "What is it, Smurfette?" Lily asked, the grin fading. She rolled her eyes. "Nothing but you. And at least I haven't skinned a Smurf and worn it's pelt like a hat." "What? And besides, what do you mean nothing but me? I haven't done anything." "You're over-excited, Chen. Perhaps a little bedtime nap would sort it." "I'm not four. I'm-" "Four hundred? Not that young, sweetie." "The plane is a big deal, okay? I've never been on one before." "You've lived four hundred years without going on a plane!" "Until now, yeah. I don't get what's meant to be special." "You. You're clearly special needs." "Can it, Smurfette." "You do it, Russmurf hat."
Magnus, who always seemed so easy-going, happened to have a fear of planes crashing. Tessa and Catarina had confirmed it, so she couldn't be lying. He'd made fun of Alec's fears of spiders and fireworks. As the plane rose in to the air, Magnus clenched tighter onto Alec's hand. It felt like he was about to crush the bones on his hand. "Steady there..." Alec murmured. Magnus had blanched, and was looking down out of the window. "Oh, fudge it." Magnus spat. Groans of freedom erupted from the room as children scrambled away from the mat. "I'm surprised a warlock can be scared of heights." Alec said and the next he was so dead it was almost weird, and creepy. "Don't worry, you'll be fine." Alec stroked Magnus's hand pitifully, telling him it was okay. "Yeah, sure." Magnus protested, begging Alec with his eyes, begging him to save him from this Hell that was a plane journey.
Soon enough, the plane was stopping at California. "Hello, Cali." Alec murmured as they got off the plane. "Hello."
