Levy's POV
We were walking to class. Our first subject was Science. We walked into the room and the teacher was Ms.Evans.
"You may sit wherever you want, but if you cause distractions I will move you!" she yelled to the class.
"Want to sit together, shrimp?" he asked me.
I hated being made fun of for being short, but when he did it I didn't mind it.
"Sure," I could feel my face warming up again.
I hate blushing.
We were listening to the lesson, when Ms.Evans stops.
"We are going to be doing a project." she says. Everyone groans.
"Oh, stop your groaning or I'll make more projects. This project is that you have to make a three-dimensional cell. You can pick your partners, and the type of cell you want to do." She stated.
"So, your house or mine, shrimp?" He asked.
"I-I don't have a place to go..."I said sadly.
"Why? Did something happen?" he asked.
"I d-don't really wanna talk about it," I said, holding back tears.
It was so hard for me not to break down right then and there. I didn't want anyone to look at me or make fun of me more than they already do. I looked at Gajeel and he looked very uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, don't worry about it. I don't like to think about it, so you won't hear anything about it anymore." I said, reassuring.
Gajeel's POV
I wasn't really paying attention to the lesson until she said something about a project.
"We are doing a project." Everyone groans.
"Oh, stop your groaning or I'll make more projects. This project is that you have to make a three-dimensional cell. You can pick your partners, and the type of cell you want to do." she said to the class.
"So, your house or mine, shrimp?" I asked her.
"I-I don't have a place to go..." She said very sad.
"Why? Did something happen?" I asked her.
I don't know why, but I was worried about her. What the hell is going on with me. I never worry about people I don't care about.
Do I care about her?! No I can't, I barley knew the girl.
"I d-don't really wanna talk about it," She said with tears in her eyes.
I feel really bad.
What the fuck is wrong with me?!
I guess she noticed something was wrong.
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, don't worry about it. I don't like to think about it, so you won't hear anything about it anymore." she was trying to reassure me.
I wasn't uncomfortable. I wanted to listen to her. I wanted to be there for her, but I didn't want to let her know.
"Okay well do you want to come to my house after school and start working on our project?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"Sure, but how do I know where to go and what time?" she asked.
"Give me your phone," I told her.
"Why?" she sounded confused.
"Just do it," I said jokingly.
She reached in her pocket and pulled out her phone then handed it to me. I went to her phone app and started typing in my and number. My contact name was "The Giant." I thought it was funny because I was more than a foot taller than her. I used her phone to text my phone so I could have her number, then gave her phone back to her. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, so I pulled it out and saved her number under "Shrimp."
-Time Skip to Lunch-
Gajeel's POV
I was walking to lunch when I saw Natsu, Gray, Juvia, Erza, and Wendy sitting at a lunch table. I walk over to them and sit at the table. I look around and notice that shrimp isn't anywhere in sight. I start to get worried. I'm pretty sure she knew the blonde girl Lucy. I knew Natsu kind of had a thing with her, but I barely knew.
"Does anyone know if Lucy is friends with Levy?"I asked the group
"Last time I saw her, she was at the vending machine," Natsu said gesturing behind me.
"Okay, I'll be right back." I said walking away.
Once I saw Lucy, she had just started walking away from the vending machine. I kind of had to jog to get to her.
"Hey, Lucy?" I asked, making sure. She turns around.
"Yeah, Gajeel right? I hear about you sometimes from Natsu." She said.
"Yeah, anyways, have you seen Levy?" I asked her.
"No, but she is either in the library or the bathroom." She replied.
"I'll check the library and you check the bathroom?" I asked her.
"Sure?" she said confused.
I understand why she's confused. If Gecko told her about me she doesn't understand why I'm worried about Levy, hell, I don't even understand why I'm worried about Levy.
"Thanks, we can meet up back here when we are done?" I asked.
"Yeah," she said walking away.
I walked upstairs to the library, and walked in to look for her. I haven't seen her anywhere, so I started making my way back down to the vending machine.
Lucy's POV
I was at the vending machine getting some snacks for my next class. When I was finished, I had just started walking away when I hear something.
"Hey, Lucy?" I hear a deep voice ask from behind me. I turn around and see who I think is Gajeel.
"Yeah, Gajeel right? I hear about you sometimes from Natsu," I replied to him.
"Yeah, anyways, have you seen Levy?" He asked.
"No, but she is either in the library or in the bathroom," I said confident.
"I'll check the library and you check the bathroom?" he asked.
I'm really confused, because everything I heard from Natsu was stuff like he barely cares about anyone. Why is he worried about Levy?
"Sure?" I said very confused.
"Thanks, we can meet up back here when we are done?" he asked me.
"Yeah," I said walking away to the bathroom.
As I walk into the girl's bathroom we can hear crying.
"Levy, is that you?" I said worried. I heard a sniffle.
"Yeah, I didn't want anyone to see me like this so I slipped away before anyone noticed I was missing," she said nasally.
"Hey, will you come out here please?" I asked quietly.
I hated seeing Levy this upset. I wanted to take all her pain away from her. She shouldn't go through this. She has already gone through so much, with her dad dying, and her getting bullied in school. She walks out of the bathroom stall and I give her a hug.
"Levy, do you want to stay at my house?" I asked.
"That would be nice, but I have to go over to Gajeel's and work on a Science project. I can come over once we are done, if you want." She said in a low voice. I let go of Levy and get her some tissue so she can wipe her eyes.
Levy's POV
Once the bell rings for lunch I walk out of the classroom with Gajeel. All I can think about is my mom, so I'm trying my hardest to hold back tears. We walk near a bathroom and I slip in before he can notice I'm gone. I go into a bathroom stall put my stuff down and start balling my eyes out. I let all the sadness I've been felling fall out of my eyes. I think I'm sitting there crying when I hear a familiar voice.
"Levy, is that you?" I think it was Lucy, but she sounded worried.
"Yeah, I didn't want anyone to see me like this so I slipped away before anyone noticed I was missing," I said with my nose stuffed up.
"Hey, will you come out here please?" I could tell it was Lucy.
I sit there debating on if I should come out or not. When I decide to walk out of the bathroom, I see Lucy and Juvia standing there. Lucy walks towards me and embraces me in a huge hug.
"Levy, do you want to stay at my house?" Lucy asked me.
"That would be nice, but I have to go over to Gajeel's and work on a Science project. I can come over once we are done, if you want." I said quietly.
She hugged me for another minuter until she let go and grabbed some tissue and handed it to me. I wiped my face and calmed down for a while. Once I felt better I grabbed my stuff and we walked out of the bathroom together. She walked me to the vending machine to see Gajeel there with his hands in his pockets.
"Hey shrimp, you okay?" Gajeel asked me.
Why is he worrying about me? Does he care about me? Of course he doesn't, we barely met today.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I said with a smile.
