What a feeling in my soul,

Love burns brighter than sunshine,

Let the rain fall, I don't care,

I'm yours and suddenly you're mine,

And it's brighter than sunshine.

I wake up groggy and disoriented the next morning. Last night's memories vaguely seep into my mind- The howling, and the very surprising car ride. Ian had dropped me hope, and Clarisse, taking one look at my tear streaked face, sent me upstairs to bed right away, surprise etched on her face.

My eyes still feel damp and my throat is dry. My lips look cracked and there are dark circles under my eyes. No wonder; I couldn't sleep till early morning. Quickly brushing my teeth, I head downstairs. There are familiar voices emanating from the drawing room.

'I better get going. I promised Cameron I'd take him to the beach today. Oh lord, it's so hard to keep up with these young kids, really. It'd do me good though, I'd probably lose some kilos by the end of the summer'. That's when Rachel notices me silently creeping down the stairwell. 'Oh, Sky, hello! I came to drop the car.' She says, as a way of explanation. 'Ian wanted to come but I had to talk to Clarisse about the annual fest anyway'.

It gives me a certain amount of satisfaction when she says 'Ian wanted to come.' Good. I comb my fingers through my hair roughly, in hopes that it somehow perks up my bed-head look. With a smile and slight curiosity, I ask her what the annual fest is.

'It's this yearly carnival we hold in our area. It's usually like this huge beach fest with everything fun, really. It's got music, games and kid rides. You should so participate! It'd be fun! It's going to be held on the twentieth of this month, that's two weeks since today.'

'That'd be fun!' I say. 'Where do you sign up?'

'There's a meeting today. They're going to discuss the funds and all the nitty-gritty. You can join in. And oh, take Ian with you please? He's been in a lousy mood ever since he came here. He's been through...tough times. It'd help if he had a good friend, you know? You'll be good for him'.

'Um, sure.' I mumble. Frankly, I'm a bit embarrassed and nervous to encounter him after yesterday's episode. It isn't quite like me to break down in the middle of the road, next to a stranger. But it's been a couple of months now that I've been missing how it all was when dad was around. And mum was being distant forever. Even Demi wasn't here for the comfort. Lisa had been my rock, after the devastating incident. She knows just how hard reality hit me. Even now, at nights I'm all alone and the horrid memory comes crashing back, Lisa's the first person I call. She knows me.

Clarisse catches my eye. Are you okay?, her eyes to seem to ask. I nod and give her a slight smile. I'm okay. I'm by no means feeling cheerful enough, but I'm okay. 'I better reply to all the messages I got. Wouldn't want to worry anyone', I say.

'You do that', Clarisse replies, 'but eat something before you go upstairs'.

'Okay'. I quickly fish out a bowl and pour in some cereal and milk. I'm don minutes. With a quick grin bestowed upon the two twittering aunt, I head upstairs.

I quickly fish out my phone and call mum. 'Sky, hey! How are you? All settled in?' she says. She sounds happy.

'Almost, have to unpack a little. But I'm good. Are you planning on coming here? For a weekend maybe? It'll do you good. God knows you need a little sun and relaxation.'
