It was early February morning when The Beatles all filed into the recording studio at Abbey Road. Their minds raced with countless ideas for songs and album names as they all took their place around the large oval table.
John Lennon sat at the top of the table with one of his band mates; Paul McCartney. Sat either side of the table was George Harrison and Richard Starkey and at the bottom, was producer George Martin and manager Brian Epstein.
Brian stood up, coughed, smoothed down his hair and began talking.
"Alright boys" he said slowly but loud. "Have you got any ideas, any ideas at all for the oncoming album?" Various murmurs occurred before Paul raised his hand high.
"I've been thinking, instead of being our usual selves, why don't we do it as an act? Be someone were not? We experimented in Rubber soul and Revolver and we all know how well they turned out" John smirked, as did George and Richard. "Anyways, we can make this album be what ever we want it to be. It could be huge!"
Everybody nodded before George spoke up rather abruptly.
"And what do you suppose we do in this act? Who or what shall we be? Will it continue with sounding like Revolver, or will we go back to our usual?" Richard agreed with George and looked at Paul; desperate for answers.
"Why don't we be like a military band? Call us Sgt peppers lonely hearts club band? It can all be one giant act. Secret messages hidden through out the songs and possibly on the cover. It will go along with the style of Revolver but it will be better! Let our fans question is but also fall in love with our music even more!"
The rest of the band was silent as they thought about what Paul had said. Could this really work? Could this whole act really work?
George Martin stood up and paced the room.
"How do you think your fans will react hmm?" He questioned. His voice was sharp and almost painful to hear as he paced around the table. "For all we know Paul, this album could be a giant flop and send you four lads downwards. We need some exciting!" He almost shouted; banging his hands on the table and sending all four Beatles sky high.
"I like the idea. It's fresh and it's never been done. I think it will be a great success" Brian said smiling slightly at Paul and then at George Martin. George Martin sat down feeling rather defeated as John sat up straight.
"With the way that Paul has described it, it could be revolutionary and who knows, It could change the way people hear or creat music. But we need to do it in such a way that people want to actually buy it. I'm all down for this act but it needs some more serious thought." Paul agreed, as did George, Richard and Brian.
"We need to start writing material then that will go along with the album. I like the name Paul said;Sgt peppers lonely hearts club band. We could develop some ideas from that and then start with the act" Ringo said in reply to John. John nodded and stood up.
"Well I guess this band meeting it over then. We need to start writing ideas for the new album."
They all removed them selves quickly from the oval table and single file, walked out of the meeting room; their heads brainstorming and creating some world changing ideas.
