Something cool and calm floated around me, moving my hair around my face and making my tail swish from side to side. My eyes fluttered open, watching my pitch black tail elegantly move and I reached out, touching the scales where my pale skin should have been. I remembered the events of yesterday, my face going slightly red before I quickly searched for Fauria.

Fauria? Fauria.....where are you? I beckoned the small sprite, glancing around the bottom of the lake to find her softly glowing aura. Panic began to set in when I couldn't feel her calming effects and I swam upwards, surfacing the water and breathing in the air of the land with my original lungs.

I sighed heavily with relief as I saw Sebastian with Fauria in a small bucket a little ways away and I waved over at them, hoping they'd see me.

"Sebastian! Over here." I called and both the sprite and man turned around, grins on their faces and I smiled back as they wandered over, Fauria still in the pale as Sebastian hauled it to me.

"How did you know to bring the water?" I wondered, thinking that only my kind could understand the spirits. Fauria grinned at me, her blue hair sticking to her face as she leaped from the bucket and back into the lake, her wings propelling her forward and her tail, similar to my own, elegantly helping her to slip into the water soundlessly.

"She.....told me? I'm not even sure myself, she just.....well back to the tail issue, I asked Fauria about it and she told me that only a fire spirit or someone with fire blood can revert you back to normal? I don't even understand what that means but she said you would." Sebastian shrugged, slumping onto the log in front of the lake and staring at me.

I felt my cheeks glow under his intense gaze and I let myself sink under the water until only my eyes were visible, thankful for the cover of the water. I let the water cool my cheeks before replying.

"Y-Yeah, I understand, I'll just. Ok." I stumbled over my words, not quite understanding what I was trying to convey at all. Embarrassed and flustered I motioned Fauria over, waving goodbye to Sebastian and sank beneath the rippling waves of the lake, hiding underneath the waters.

I needed to make a pact with the fire inside. To make peace with the war that was raging between myself and what little remained of Larina. The poor woman who I had killed, slaughtered, tricked, butchered.

I was a murderer. I shook my head roughly, trying to rid myself of the thoughts. I took deep breaths, through my fins of course, the feeling was strange, breathing from my sides and not my mouth or nose. I imagined the still ongoing battle, no slaughter that was continuing through my blood, the water elements trying to wipe out the weaker fire ones. I took another breath, slowing my heart and calming the raging waves of water down, making them settle within my blood.

The fire riled up again, retaliating and fighting back, but I forced my water to remain peaceful, to become completely passive. Shocked the fire too stopped, settling down, finally accepting it's new host and evolving to suit my body and original element.

Secorus calaria forinaromus

I whispered to myself, completing the pact between myself and feeling the warmth flood through my body as the fire multiplied, sending tingles all through me and intensifying any emotions that had already manifested.

Eve! Eve, now you can go heal people without worrying about your life's magic! Eve you can have your legs back!

Fauria exclaimed excitedly, a wide smile on her petite face as she swam to the surface, making me follow suit. I felt the water around me evaporate, bubbles floating to the surface as my tail began to seperate and the holes in my sides filling up, making it impossible to breathe again.

I grasped at the surface of the water, my legs flailing about as I tried to grab the air above, clawing at the water to and obtain the needed air.

Strong hands gripped my frail arms and they yanked me from the water, pulling me into the protective and huffing chest of Sebastian. I coughed harshly, water spewing from my mouth and my eyes going blurry as I blinked away the water that still resided within them.

"Eve! Thank god, you even have your legs back." He sighed with relief as he rested his chin on my head, his heart racing beneath my fingers. I pulled away from his embrace and scampered onto the nearby grass, taking deep, hurtful breaths in as my lungs felt scarred from the intake of water.

I eyed Fauria at the water's edge, frowning with her shoulder slumped as she huffed.

I want to be on the land too! She pouted, trying to pull herself up over the dirt and clay. Her struggles brought a small smile to my face and I crawled over, laying my hand out so she could sit on it, she worked it out quickly and jumped on, almost slipping off.

"Secorus calari" I whispered to her and her eyes went wide as she convulsed, her hands balling into fists as her tail evaportaed, replaced by smooth legs. I gasped as her piercing blue eyes turned a bright shade of crimson and her skin became darker, a more....tan colour that looked more like Sebastian than my pale self.

"Fauria! Fauria are you alright? I'm so sorry, I never wanted to hurt you. Mother's roots, what have I done?" Tears welled in my eyes until she finally gasped, her little hands gripping my thumb as she heaved, panting heavily before she shakily smiled.

I'm...breathing, air! She beamed at me, still panting but now hugging my face excitedly as she flit around, spreading her newly made electric blue wings. They shone in the sunlight and  noticed that they waved around like a mix of flames and the ripples of small waves.

"What did you do?" Sebastian wondered, concern etching onto his features as he stared at Fauria's new appearance.

"I...made it so she could breathe without water." I smiled at him, just glancing at his features made my stomach flip and my cheeks become warm as my hands became clammy. What is wrong with me? He smiled back, flashing pearly white teeth at me and my heart beat faster. I must be ill, it could be a side effect of the pact....

Something behind us clattered loudly, I spun around and met the eyes of a terrified woman who shrieked.

"SHE'S ALIVE!!!!"

I flinched, my sensitive ears drinking in the horrific sound as she ran back towards the village, leaving her laundry on the ground.

I met Sebastian's worried gaze.

"There she is!" The same voice echoed through the silence of the borders of the village, a mob roaring as they marched towards me.
