Teenagers
My Chemical Romance"They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of youBecause they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do" My father told me as I walked out the door, on my first day at the school I just transferred to.Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you cleanAs I walked towards the front doors, I saw a few teenagers in a little group off to the side. At first glance they didn't seem to be doing anything, but I happened to stare long enough to notice the pill bottles in one of the kid's hand. He finally noticed me looking and smirked causing me to divert my gaze to the ground.
They're gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machineOut of the corner of my eye I saw him give the pill bottle to one of the others and start to walk over to me, the devilish grin still on his face.
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleedTo be honest, I was terrified. My father told me about all his bad experiences at high school, with all the drugs, partying, relationships, bad decisions, alcohol, cigarettes . The list could go on.
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not meA month and a few weeks later, I had become more and more like the kids in his stories. They were becoming my reality. It was hard to refuse the drugs or cigarettes when they were offered without making a bad impression.
The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much, kidEvery time I would turn them down, people would start picking on me, calling me chicken, stupid, anything bad.
But if you're troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they didPretty soon, I had enough. I punched the next person who dissed me. That taught them. They changed their attitudes towards me immediately. It was like they were testing me, to see how much I could handle.
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleedThey still scared me, but didn't pick on me anymore.
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not meOhhh yeah!
High school isn't that easy, though.
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleedNow that the drugs and that stuff was out of the way for now, there was still the relationships and making new friends, how everyone looks at you. Yeah, there's still a lot more to handle.
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not meAll together now!
I was still moody, unstable emotionally.
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleedMany people tried to kiss me. I didn't love any of them.
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not meI still cared how I looked, stressed all the time.
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleedGuess that's life, though.
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not meWish me luck.
