you broke down in front of me
in front of everybody
and cried
cried so much it made my heart break
cried so much it made me ache
cried so much that it had me shocked
frozen in place
I am sorry
for not knowing what to do
I am sorry
for the way I froze
but I'm here
every day and every night
because you are my person
and I didn't know that
I was not sure of that
until I saw you broken
and knew how much I wanted the you I know
the you I trust
and need
and miss
I'm sorry for not knowing
but I do now
and I will do my best
to keep you by my side
