The car rolled to a stop outside a motel. Sebastian lifted his head from the car window.
"I'll go get a room." Michael said, closing the car door. Sebastian nodded his head and stretched his arms lazily above his head. It had been a very long car ride to Florida. Sebastian felt certain that this was it. He looked at the time and saw it was the afternoon. He reached over to the back seat and grabbed his JanSport. He got out of the car and slung his back pack over his right shoulder. The sun was blazing hot; he shielded it from his eyes and walked over to where Michael was.
Michael patted Sebastian on the back and handed him the card key.
"We'll stay here until I can find a suitable place." Michael said.
"You couldn't find a suitable motel? What room number are we even in? 666?" Sebastian questioned darkly.
"Kid you really are somethin' you know that? There's no such thing as a suitable motel and its 32 genius." Michael replied with a chuckle.
Sebastian slid the card key in and opened the door. It was a small shabby room with two beds and a bath. The old wall paper looked as if it was slowly peeling off and the carpet was stained and torn. Michael was the first to enter. He laid on his bed, which squeaked under his weight, and cracked his back, getting comfortable.
"Rest up," Sebastian said, "I'm going out."
"Already? Kid why don't you-"
"Mike, I'm just going to get a feel for the area. I know we're close."
"Alright," Michael replied, "I'll get things we need, like clothes." he pulled at his frayed shirt to make a point.
With that, Sebastian exited the motel and took to walking down the sidewalk. He walked along the sidewalk and reached into his jean pocket for his ipod. He plugged his purple earphones in. Pop music blasted into his ears. He closed his eyes briefly and opened them; his blue eyes shining brightly.
He began looking about, scanning for her. He knew she must be close. Sebastian felt it inside that this was where he'd find her. He walked amongst people searching for her. After an hour, he angrily propped himself against a wall.
This is too damn hard! He thought to himself. He had no picture, not even a name. He watched people pass by and cross the street. Business men with their suite cases catching taxis and mothers tugging their distracted children along. Sebastian sneered and folded his arms.
Suddenly, he felt it again. The feeling of a strong wind gliding across your skin and numbing you down. Sebastian looked across and saw a small brunette crossing the street. She was humming to the music on her ipod. She wore a white shirt that matched her ripped jean shorts.
Sebastian's ipod turned off, the music ceasing to play. His arms fell to his sides. The girl pulled out her head phones, apparently her music had stopped too. For a moment Sebastian could hear both their hearts beating. She stopped to look at her ipod and for a brief second, locked eyes with Sebastian.
Before Sebastian could see more, he fell to the ground, his legs refusing to carry him. A surge of pain washed over him and he couldn't help but yell. The pain was so intense, stretching from his feet to his finger tips. It was like being engulfed in flames, inside and out. Then it ended as soon as it came and Sebastian swiftly got up.
The people surrounding him looked at him strangely. He searched for the girl and pushed past everyone. He saw her again, crumpled on the ground in the middle of the street. A car was coming and before he knew it, he was running as fast as he could to her. There was a loud honk and a screech as the car tried to stop; people gasped.
