Mallory's POV
i feel like i go along with what derek's crazy mind dreams up way to often. i mean randomly complimenting people on a friday night? you have to be out of your mind. but , i committed to it and i don't like to back down from commitments. i fire up my old macintosh and open my web browser. a news website always comes up. the headline reads: Major Drug Bust at EBK Base Camp Near Washington Park. Which doesn't really concern me since i live in west chicago, not south, but it is creepy to imagine my little brother being busted for something like that. im trying to get him back on the right track but its hard when you dad comes home from work everyday and just falls asleep with a bottle of beer in his hand, maybe one sip taken. but at least this skype thing is a distraction from my chaoic life. i go to skype's search bar and type in my name. i find someone who's not an old lady only on the website to say hi to her grandkids and type of message to her, using our fake skype account. i typed, hey you are a great person no doubt. keep doing you! well, one advice one down. now i guess we go onto compliments. i continued doing one of each til i reached my quota. it actually felt really good. it's like i can stop feeling like shit so other people don't feel like shit. i texted jenny. ay wanna go 2 the mal?
J: B there in 15
i grabbed my coat and escaped the calm madness i call a house.
