Mom and I sit around the TV, pulling my sisters and brother into our laps. "And from the lovely town of Corrales, Miss Allison Dearly, 4!" Jimmy Fallon announces. The king and queen smile at each other. No doubt that the king is from there. The queen talks of her hometown all the time. "And from Hartford, Connecticut," Oh god no. "Miss Rosalind Meyer, 6." My whole body goes ridged. The phone starts to ring. My little sister, Faith, runs to the phone. "Mom! Someone's calling!" She yells. And Faith can yell pretty loud for a 15 year old girl. Mom answers the phone. She talks for a bit before she hangs up. "That was the queen. She's delighted to have a 6 in the competition and we spoke of the olden days for a quite a few minutes. Before the wars and such started up." I lower my eyes. She's talking about the year before I was born, the year my parents got married. You see, before I was born, our kingdom, Northia, was separated into 3 countries, America, Canada and Mexico. But then a large war occurred and they banded together against the kingdoms in Europe, ruled by King William. A highly respected man and his wife of a year, were crowned king and queen. King Jace and Queen Sara had their son, 2 days before I was born. King Jace separated everyone into castes. Not that anyone minds. Rebels attack every month. But to win the heart of a strong, brown haired, brown eyed Prince? Too much for me.

The second I walk into my classroom, a million girls surround me. All saying how lucky I am and that stuff. At lunch, the most popular and beautiful girl in school, tries to make me sit next to her. And fails. I sit next to my only and best friend, Andie. She throws her arms around me. "Oh Rosie! You're so lucky! You'll be a queen and a princess!" I shake my head. "Who would want a 6 as a queen? You'd have a better chance than me as a 5." She stops and stares at me. "You don't think he'll give you a chance? Your mother is Rowan Blanchard for heavens sake!" I shake my head. "The King and Queen respected her, but my aunt was caught plotting against them and my parents families were moved down. For the better, Mom says." Andie nodded and went back to her food. That day at home is torture. I'm leaving tomorrow with no sendoff party like America had or anything like that. I'm scared.
