We all stumble onto the beach and crawl our way towards a palm tree. "We are here." Henry says with difficulty.
I chuckle, "Ya, we're here." With my breaths heavy and heart beating fast, I fall into a deep sleep.
Melissa awakens me, with a nudge on the shoulder, "Come on, sleepy head, we all have to find food and water." Her voice still raspy and dry.
We scour the entire area before coming to a stream. Henry and I start to drink straight from the river, but before Melissa could, I stop her, "Henry and I are used to dirty water, but you might not have the stomach to do so."
She looks at me with almost a certain hatered, "I certainly do have the stomach for this water. I don't suggest, telling me what to do. . . David."She leans over and begins to take her fill.
I shake my head in disappointment, "Alright, but if you get sick, don't cry like it wasn't your idea."
We fill the buckets that were once used for food on the raft and start to fill it up with water. On our way back we come across some strange fruit hanging down from a tree. We collect it and as we continue I take a bite, "Well, if I die, you two will know if its okay to eat or not."
Henry just shakes his head, "You idiot."
We arrive at the beach to find animals ripping our raft to pieces. I run out and yell, trying to scare them off, but as I aproach I finally get a good look at the creatures. The teeth, the claws, blood seems to run down their face. The creatures look at me and roar. They begin to run at us chasing us back into the forest. We try and head back to the stream. As we appoach the river one of the creatures gets a hold of the back of my shirt and throws me backward. It claws at me and we ressel on the ground. My eyes find a rock and with my left hand I swing it at the creatures face, it gives a giant yelp and I shove it off of me. Running to the tree that Melissa and Henry have scaled, I hop to the closest branch and try to lift myself up, but before I could, a stinking pain shoots up my leg. I am pulled back down to the ground and the rest of the creatures pile onto me, scratching at my face and body. I begin to feel like giving up, like this will be the end for me, but as I hear the screams from Henry, I am reminded of a family I must get back to. They rip the flesh from my body and start to eat at my skin. I grab ahold of one of their faces and thow it over to my left. It falls onto two of the creatures to my left. The others to my right continue to try to go for my face and neck, they rip and claw at the hands that protect it. For an instance the pain goes away, and rage over takes me. I lift myself up and jump on top of one of the creatures. I take a rock and bash as much as I can. I am pulled from behind and thrown into the river. As I float away the ostrich like creatures roar at me in defeat. The pain soon returns and its not happy.
The stream takes me a far bit aways, but my body is stopped by a tree log. I reach my hand around it and try to lift myself up. It takes me some attempts, but when I finally hoist myself up I look around. The surounding trees seem different. More of an oak feel, than the pine I've been seeing.
A roar in the distance throws me back into the water. It seems pretty far, but with my luck, I am not willing to test it.
I wait for a couple of minutes before lifting myself back onto the log. The log was a tree at one point, but fell, and now reaches across the river. I hold my breath and slowly drag myself towards shore.
The ground is soft and wet, giving a sence of belonging. When I look down at my stomach, the vomit breaks the enjoyment of the soil beneath me. I don't know what is organs and what is flesh. I have lost way too much blood to even think about surviving this.
As I lay back down, the smell of pine and vomit hit my nose. It could almost be pleasant if I wasn't dying. My breaths begin to slow down, and I can feel my soul ready to give in. Ready to have the pain end. Ready for a new day.
My eyes then take a final look around and as my hand falls to my side, my eyes shut, forever.
