Chapter 5 part 2: The legend of the dragonwhisperers

Twenty votes! Thanks to all voters, which I know is mainly just 2/3 people voting multiple times, but still, thanks! I had the idea of creating a separate book to put dragon files in extreme detail in, maybe I'll do that. Tell me what you think, and whatever you want, that's what I'll do!

Come on, come in.
Spike gestured for me to enter the large cabin, so I walked in slowly and he limped in behind me. The roof was tall enough for him to stand, but he sat on the floor anyway and so I did the same. I looked up at him, and looked at his eyes for a minute. They were bright blue, with hints of grey. Funny, my eyes were grey with hints of blue...
I'm guessing you want to know why I brought you here.

Spike snapped me out of my daze.

Listen to this story, it will be familiar at first, but you need to hear it first.

"Ok, I'm listening."

Long ago, when humans were only beginning to rule the Earth, there were four kings.
"I know this story! Who doesn't know this story!" I exclaimed, for it was a very popular children's tale that my mother had told me many times before she died.
You don't know this version, now shut it while I tell it!
"Ok, sheesh."
Long ago there were four kings. Each king controlled a certain species of dragon, and named his clan after that dragon. The Fang clan controlled greater fang dragons. The Wing clan controlled skyclaw dragons. The Talon clan controlled snakespine dragons. The Tail clan controlled poisoworm dragons.
Each clan was constantly at war with another. The four groups almost started the first world war, but they were held back by a group called the peace troop. They held peaceful protests, and all of the dragon species that weren't part of the war took part in peacekeeping. This made them an immensely powerful group.
However the kings began hunting down the peace troopers. And so they decided that desperate times called for desperate measures, and began a master plan. Ten human couples, newlyweds mostly, were to be infected with a little bit of dragon blood. The couples then went on to have children, and grandchildren. Until eventually, the original couples' great-great-grandchildren developed oddities.
They were faster than other humans. More agile, stronger. They had faster recovery rates. Most importantly, the could hear the dragon's telepathic communication. They named themselves the Dragonwhisperers, and became a small, yet intensely powerful organisation.
The original kings had long since died, but their descendants continued to war. The dragonwhisperers got in the way of the war, and so the new kings hunted them down.
Very few remained safe. Those who did decided that the power needed to be passed down and continued. They kept on producing offspring, and so the power was passed down through the ages. It is now a very rare power, and those who are lucky enough to be dragonwhisperers should come together to ensure the power is passed on even more. It is the dragons' duty to protect them. That is why they are so few, and why they remain hidden in the human world, unseen by those who do not know the true story.

That, girl, is the true story.

"But that's not how it ended for me! The dragonwhisperers just disappeared when they were on the brink of extinction, and no one knows what happened to them!"

No, they didn't just disappear, they went into hiding and lived on.

"Ok, fine they lived on. Why did you have to tell me this whole story exactly?"

Because, you are fast. You have a quick recovery rate. You can hear me.

"So?"

So, that means that you are a dragonwhisperer.

Oh, Jesus, this is when the writers block begins... Sorry it's another filler-sort-of-thing, but the legend is really important.
