I tightened the straps of my bag, making sure it wouldn't fall off the upcoming fight. Ryan just raised his eyebrows at me, underestimating what I could do. I was quick, which caught them off guard. I ran towards Ryan and watched as he prepared to block me and quickly turned towards Nick sending a punch to his jaw. He wasn't expecting it and he lost his footing for a second. Seeing Ryan move out of the corner of my eye, I quickly sent a kick towards him. He caught it with ease and threw my leg up sending me on my back. I quickly rolled to my left and gained my footing.

"We don't want to hurt you, Hailee, please just stay for a little while."

"Sorry, no can do." I made a run for it, going in between them, knowing one of them would grab me by the waist to stop me. Ryan was the one to grab me, and as he pulled me back to swing me around to be in front of him, I lifted my foot to give Nick a swift kick to the right side of his jaw. Nick's head whipped to the left and he went down. I quickly thrust my head backwards, crushing Ryan's nose in the process. He quickly let me go and I ran.

Making my way through the house was easy. I bursted through the front door and sprinted as though my life depended on it, because quite frankly it did. I could hear there footsteps behind me, which pushed me to run faster.

Making my way across the lawn, I dodged fallen trees and zig-zaged through the woods in hopes of loosing them. The crunch of dead leaves was enough to give my location away though. It wouldn't be long before night fell and I would have to find some place to go. Their footsteps were gaining on me and soon I saw a rather large dog come up on my right.

"Seriously!" I hollered. My day couldn't get any worse.

"Hailee, stop please!" Ryan pleaded, but I kept running. He didn't understand, none of them did.

Pushing myself farther and farther, I eventually heard the sound of their footfalls stop. I didn't.

My breathing was becoming harder to control. It had been a while since I had ran like that. I stopped to catch my breath. My hands went to my knees as my lungs screamed for oxygen. Sweat covered my body and the chilly night air was now making itself known. I looked around and still saw woods. I realized I had no idea where I was. I was blindly running, for all I knew I could have been running in circles.

Knowing I couldn't run anymore, I decided to find a tree to climb to rest for the night. It was difficult at first, as all the trees around me had high branches. To high for me to jump and reach. After about twenty minutes of looking I came across one and made my bed for the night. Resting my back against the trunk I placed my bag on my lap after sliding my feet through the straps to ensure it wouldn't fall.

Sleep didn't come. I was paranoid at them finding me and scared that I would fall out of the tree in my deep slumber. Listening to the noises night brought gave me time to think. How could Ryan expect me to blindly trust him, to accept staying with complete strangers. I couldn't and I wouldn't.

After sitting in the tree for what felt like hours, my eyes finally grew heavy and sleep overcame me. The last thing I remember were the bright green eyes that were forever burned in my memory.

The snap of a tree branch startled me awake. I tried to fine the cause for the noise, but the woods were blanketed in darkness making it impossible to see. The snap of another broken branch caused me to whip my head to my right. I strained my eyes to find anything but only found darkness. I didn't move or dare breath in worry that it would give away my position.

Silence surrounded me with the exception of my pounding heart.

"Boo" a voice whispered right into my ear.

I screamed and promptly fell out of the tree. Twigs and rocks dug into my body and I was sure I had injured my wrist and possibly my ankle from the fall. Laughter traveled down to me from where I fell. It was a mans laughter. I knew Ryan nor any his family would do what he just did, which meant that I was in trouble.

While he was laughing I pulled my bag off my legs and attempted to stand, prepared to run. Pain shot though my right ankle and traveled to my hip. I locked my jaw and pushed forward, doing my best to ignore the pain. The sound of leaves and twigs breaking let me know that the man had jumped down from the tree. I hobbled forward as fast as I could, adrenalin filling my body.

"Where do you think you are going little one?" The man teased.
