Knowing that this was a fight or die situation, I pulled my bag around in front of me and pulled out my gun. Popping the safety off I stopped at a cluster of trees that kept my back guarded and turned to face my attacker.

Staring into the darkness, struggling to see or hear any movement.

Laughter came again, but this time from my left. Aiming my gun in that direction I froze and slowed my breathing.

"Be careful little one, those are grown up toys" He patronized.

"What do you want!" I shouted into the void, hoping my voice didn't show the fear I felt.

"I just want to have some fun." His voice was closer, but this time it came from my right. His movement made no sound through the leaf covered ground.

"Sorry buddy, not in the mood!"

"Oh, but I am" his breath fanned my neck from behind, traveling through the small spaces between the trees. I quickly turned and blindly fired my gun. Again, his laughter sounded.

'You will have to do better than that" Again, he was behind me.

I whipped around, putting more weight on my right ankle than I meant to, but bit down my whimper of pain. During my slight distraction he moved forward, grabbing my throat and slammed me against the group of trees behind me. I moved my arm, placing the gun in front of me and pulled the trigger.

"You missed" He whispered, his hot breath against my ear. His left hand held my throat and he stood to the right of my body. It didn't take him long to disarm me, my strength was no match for his. My throat began to burn as he cut off my hair supply, the bark from the tree digging into my back.

He trailed his nose up my neck and hummed in satisfaction. "You smell delicious"

"Fuck off" I choked out. I could see his gray eyes look into mine, the moonlight causing them to shine.

"Such a dirty little mouth you have, little one" He chided. "I can't wait to. . ."

"Evan, that is no way to treat our new friend." A voice cut him off.

Trickles of moonlight came through the tops of the trees, illuminating the new strangers face. His face was one I could never forget. It was the face that haunted my dreams. The face that I saw every time I looked at my scar.

Evan backed off, releasing my throat. I sucked in big gulps of air, ignoring the burning in my lungs. Anger burned through my vanes. I wanted so badly to rip apart this man in front of me as slowly as possible.

Evan watched as he walked closer, stopping just in front of me. He looked me over with a smirk."Well aren't you just a pretty little thing" He whispered.

I lunged forward, only to be slammed back into the tree by Evan.

"A pretty thing with no manners.", shaking his head with amusement, he turned and looked towards the night sky.

I looked to the ground and saw my gun just feet from me. My captor, Evan, had just carelessly tossed it to the ground in front of me. Trying to find a way out of his grasp was going to be difficult, but I knew that if I could reach my gun, I would stand a chance.

Turning my body so that it faced Evan more, I prepared myself. A twig suddenly snapped behind me, which drew the attention of both men. I took their distraction to my advantage and quickly kneed Evan in every man's weak spot.

Groaning he went down, and I dove for my gun. Grabbing it I spun around and fired off a shot, hitting Evan in the shoulder. Through his yells of pain I heard growls.

Wolves began filtering in through the trees. They looked like the same ones that I was running away from before, I guess Ryan didn't stop chasing me after all.

"Marcus, let's go! Leave her!" Evan cried out.

Marcus glared at the wolves before turning towards me. "Until next time." Marcus whispered before turning and running with Evan.

The wolves raced passed me, chasing after them. All I heard was his laughter and the sound of crunching leaves and twigs before silence surrounded me. Still staring in the direction they ran, I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. Then, I screamed in frustration.

How could the man that I was after be the same man that Ryan was after as well. How could two peoples lives become so tangled? Fate was cruel.

I laid down on the damp ground and covered my eyes with my arm. I was furious at myself for not being able to carry out my promise to my parents tonight. He had taken me by surprise. Something I would never let happen again. Though, he didn't seem to recognize me from our last meeting, which could work to my advantage.

Lost in my thoughts, I hadn't heard the near silent footfalls coming towards me. It was only when I felt a hot burst of air on my forehead did I move my arms to become face to face with a gray wolf. The eyes were a vibrant gold with swirls of green. My breath caught in my throat. I didn't want to move for fear of it attacking me. I couldn't help take in the beauty of this wolf. Its coat shined in the moonlight. The wolf just stared at me.

I slowly began to push myself backwards, away from the towering wolf. My movement causing a low growl to come. I froze again. My heart was hammering in my chest, of all the ways to die, I did not want to be mauled to death by a wolf. The wolf straightened up and took a step backwards; nodding its head as if to give me permission to move. I sat up, never breaking eye contact. Eventually, I was able to get to my feet.

I watched as the wolf walked closer to me and pushed is nose into my hand. The cold, wet feeling caused me to relax a little and I glided my hand over its head. The wolfs fur was soft, a lot softer than what I had expected.

I felt a tug on my shirt and realized that the wolf was trying to tell me to follow it. Tucking my gun in my waistband, I threw my bag over one shoulder and began to walk. I could tell where the wolf was leading me. Seeing the house in the distance, I let out a sigh. I didn't want to go back, but I felt that I now had no choice. Ryan would be able to tell me more information on Marcus and from what I experienced tonight, I would need the help to get close to him again. It would work to my advantage that Marcus was after Ryan.

Knowing that I wouldn't have to try to hard to hunt for him, Marcus's ego seemed to get the best of him causing him to be reckless.

My feet drug at a slow pace. I was exhausted from tonights events. All I wanted to do was shower and sleep, and the faster I got to that house the faster it could happen.

Every now and then the wolf would glance behind at me, as if checking to make sure I was still following. No more than maybe ten minutes of walking was I standing on the front porch of the house. The wolf nudged my leg towards the door, telling me to go in.

Turning the door knob, I made my way inside the house. Silence filled the house and I was thankful. I was not in the mood to talk to anyone at the moment. I trudged my way up the stairs and back into the room that I was staying in. Tossing my bag onto the bed I made my way into the bathroom.

I looked bad. Leaves and small sticks had tangled themselves in my hair and dirt covered parts of my clothes. Stripping down, I turned on the shower and waited for the water to heat up. After pulling out as much of the leaves and twigs as I could I stepped in the shower. The hot water felt good on my muscles and the dirt made its way down the drain.
