Sorry for the sudden dissappearance >.< I was of course, preparing for my exams and well, I scored rather well in it. This chapter was rather difficult, if that is one way to put it. I lost count of the times I wrote it all over again because it simply did not make sense when I already had the plot pieced together. The joys of being a writer.
After a grudging session of writing and writing, I decided not to proof read in fear that it might be insatisfactory again. So my dear Magikal Fans, tell me, quick updates and short chapters or once per two weeks but long chapters? Tell me in the comments!

Chapter 5: The difference
-----------------------------
Stepping into the clearing, Calanda surveyed the scene ahead. The grassy patch that was before was glittering slightly under the sunlight, the place ahead still misty. It was cool and moist, with the greenery at the background where much wildlife called it home.
People gathered around a slim figure who was supposedly the professor, waiting for instructions. “Students! I didn’t give you the permission to idle around so I expect you to be here in less than 10 seconds! Pronto!” Her voice rang out.
Many students took off into a sprint towards the professor, not wanting to anger her further. Professor Lyr was a force of nature to be reckoned with; even the headmaster could tame her wild nature. She was notorious for her superb skill of controlling her skills, being able to control molecules in a huge amount to wreck up a good storm.
“Alright class. Similarly to what you have done in your physical training, you’ll be using your talents against one another. For those who are more advanced –“She glanced at the group that huddled together at the side – “you can go for first red. I absolutely do not condone death matches. You know the drill. Pair up!”
Calanda’s eyes flitted back and forth, looking for someone to pair up. All seemed taken – well she had to fight with herself then, though it was impossible. It felt like she was all alone again without any company, as if it was the old days again where she only had the comfort of Cynthia.
“Howdy there, mind if I partnered up with you, eh mate?” A Texas accent reached her ears as she looked behind her curiously, meeting the blue eyes of the guy.
“Sure.”
“Well class, thanks to the over-confident students who love to show off their skills and their skills are too destructive, we’ll let them have a go first. Jared Crimms and Ord Finch, you’re up.”
The girl next to her giggled, staring enviously at the boys who stepped up with huge smirks on their faces and Calanda immediately grasped that it was not the first time a duel had occurred between the pair.
“Fight!” Professor Lyr boomed, stepping aside.
Jared’s hand stretched into the air, his hand suddenly crackling with energy, a full-blown grin placed on his face. His opponent returned the grin; his hand slamming into the ground as the ground beneath them trembled, making a few people at the sidelines fall off their feet.
Ord darted towards Jared, huge chunks of soil following behind him as a dozen shards of soil that was as sharp as knife shot forth. Jared disappeared in flash from the scene, suddenly appearing him like lightning as a huge combust of lightning striked down onto Ord.
