I am awoken to the sound of my phone going off. What the hell? No one wakes me up this early. Pulling my phone out from underneath my pillow, I cringe at the brightness that repels me. Looking at my phone, I see it's a text from an unknown number. While I'm unlocking the phone I turn the brightness down because I can't stand it. The text, I notice, is from Claire.
Claire: Hey it's Claire! Congrats, you got the job. Come in after your classes and we will get you trained. Your uniform is a pair of black pants, a neutral color top, and a pair of dress shoes. Also, your hair should be pulled back away from your face. I can't wait to see you later.
Me: Omg! Thank you so much! I am really excited to start this job!
I save her number and look at the time; 7:30 am. Guess it's time to start getting ready. Looking over at Sage's bed, I discover she's still asleep, and her class starts at 8:30. "Yo, Sage. Get up; it's time to go to school," I sing while jumping into her bed and shaking her.
"Ugh; what time is it?" she asks while rubbing her eyes.
"7:30. Now, get up or I will tickle you till you pee. Do you wanna be known as the girl who peed her pants on the second day of school?" I ask her while laughing.
"Ugh, no, but 5 more minutes mom," she says while turning over and putting the pillow over her head.
"You leave me no choice Sage, dear. Here comes the tickle monster," I say while wiggling my fingers in her direction. When they touch her skin, I start tickling her till she's laughing and I'm laughing and we are now just laying in Sage's twin size bed. "You know I'm really glad my mom and Matthew moved from the U.K to New York," I tell her while looking up at the ceiling.
"So am I, but as much as I would like to get emotional with you, I need to start getting ready," she informs me while clambering over me to get out of bed, falling to the floor in the process.
"That's a smart idea, you know. I'm going to do that too. Maybe we could get coffee before you need to get to class," I tell her.
"Sure." And, with that, I roll out of bed and walk over to the closet.
"I'm going to dress semi nice today," I tell no one in particular. Rooting through my closet, I find a pair of skinny jeans with rips in both knees and a crop top that has a treble clef and a bass clef combined to make a heart. Looking around the room, I find a pair of booties and put them in my backpack. Like hell I'm going to bike in booties; so I grab my maroon vans and slip them on after I put on the whole outfit. Looking in the mirror, I see how bad my hair looks. "Sage, why didn't you tell me how bad I looked?" I whine at her.
"Because I thought you would notice?" she questions back at me.
"Ugh, you make me upset," I pout while walking over to the bathroom to get ready. I am so thankful that we have an attached bathroom in our room. When I get into the bathroom, I brush out my shoulder length, wavy, turquoise hair. When I'm pleased with the end result, I decide it's a make up day and brush eyeshadow on my lids and line my eyes with my usual wings. Checking the time, I realize it's 7:47. "Sage, come on let's go," I order her.
"I've been ready for 5 minutes, slow poke," she tells me while poking me to move along. Grabbing my backpack off the same place as usual, I put it on and place my camera strap around my neck. I never leave without it in my hand or around my neck. I grab my helmet off the hook, while Sage grabs her green helmet. "Tomorrow we need to longboard to class," she tells me while closing the door and locking it.
"We really do. Now, let's get to class." With that, we walk down the stairs and go over to the bike rack. "Hey, lets race to the Commons. First one there has to buy the other person's coffee, in the morning, for a week."
