I rolled back onto my back. How could I be so stupid? I had to end it with Aden. He wasn't even worth having as a friend. I reached for my phone, noticing the bruises that covered my arm. I flipped it open, and started texting Aden, 'aden im breaking up w/ u' I hit send, and got out of bed. I still couldn't believe it. I opened my dresser draw, looking for a long sleeved shirt, I decided on a plain white shirt, and black skinnies. I put on my converse, and headed down stairs for breakfast. I just had a bowl of cereal, and then ran back upstairs for my bag, and phone. 'one new message' was across the screen, I sat down and opened it. 'no, ur not.' What the hell? Did he think I was joking or something? 'no, i am. u dnt get it. we r done.' I sent it back. I heard the bus pull to a stop infront of my house, and ran out the door, climbing up the bus stairs quickly, and finding the farthest seat back that I could. I popped my head phones in, and once again, my phone buzzed. This time from an unknown number.
'hey ivory, its me, clause.' My heart thumped. He had no idea. 'hey' was all I managed to say. I turned the volume up louder, and let my thoughts get to me. I still didn't understand. When Aden first asked me, I just, I don't know. I thought there might be something there, there wasn't. I knew that now. Now it was more about Clause, I almost saw it coming, but with him, I couldn't have a decent relationship. He was just a tease.
The bus pulled up to the school, and everyone got off. I tried staying toward the middle of the crowd, but my efforts were wasted as the crowd separted, and I was left alone to get to my locker. My phone buzzed from my pocket, it was the number from before. I deleted the message without reading it, and then turned off my phone. I twisted in my combination, and then hung my back pack up, unzipped it, and grabbed my books for english. I walked there by myself, and once I got there, I sat in my seat, and then roamed the hall searching for Clause. I saw his familiar dark head of hair, and approached.
"Clause, can I talk to you?" I asked in a small voice. He turned and faced me,
"Yeah, sure," He lead me into the corner, waving off his friends.
"Yester-"
"Was a mistake," That was like a slap. That's not what I wanted him to say. Not at all.
"Not for me," I whispered.
"What did you say?"
I started to repeat myself, "No- Yeah. I'm sorry." I liked Clause. I was head over heels. Only, I was just a toy of his.
"Wait, no. Ivory, you don't think that I mean it like that? Do you?" I looked up at him, confused. It didn't help when his eyes focused in on mine, they were grey today, absoultly gorgeous.
"No, I thought you did!" I breathed with more relief.
"But, Ivory, Aden." His eyes dropped, and I almost caught a sigh.
"Clause," I gripped his chin and made him look up at me. "I told him it was over." His eyes dropped again, and this time he audibly sighed.
"I don't know Ivory.." I knew something like this would happen.
"Oh, okay. I get it. That's cool, well, see you around."
I left him, And then went to go find Aden. I found him and tapped on his shoulder.
"Ivory," he said it in a bitter tone.
"Aden, please take me back. I made a huge mistake. I know that now. Please just take me back." he closed his eyes, and his hands went to his temples, massaging them.
"Okay, Ivory. I love you." that blew up like a bomb in my stomach.
"I love you, too, Aden."
