Jasey was now 17 and that one kid who always kept to herself, not making any friends and distancing herself from everyone. Her mother and her had grown apart, her mother started drinking when she was at home, then suddenly pull herself out of it soon enough to be on a plane the second she was needed. But those in between times is what scared Jasey, when her mom was drunk, she was mean. And we aren't talking "throw a few insults" mean. we're talking "Jasey ends up with bruises" mean. And the weird thing is, is when she was sober, her mother was still mean. but this mean was just "throw a few insults mean" because in all honesty her mother drank to cope with the fact that her husband of 8 years was still dead (not that she could change that, but she just didn't like being alone.) and the fact that Jasey is the same age that she was when she met Jason
When Jasey came home from school for the last time of her junior year, her mother was surprisingly sober and she called for Jasey to come sit with her "Jasey please come here." Jasey obeyed, because from the looks of it, her mother was not drunk, nor was she in a mood to where she was going to verbally hurt Jasey. And that made her a little less uncomfortable. "what is it?" Jasey questioned, genuinely confused as to why after almost 8 years off all of this bullshit her mom would actually want to have a conversation with Jasey. "we are moving." her mother said simply with a straight face. Tabitha thought moving would be good for them, she was trying to get better. For Jasey. Tabitha knew that getting better meant getting worse, and that's why she was trying so much harder then any other normal person. Jasey was shocked. She didn't want to move, this was the house she grew up in, the house where her dad died, and the place where all of her favorite and worst memories were held.
"where are we moving to?" Jasey said trying not to cry.
"Australia." Tabitha said calmly. And that's all it took for Jasey to be in tears, because that meant moving all the way across the world and moving all the way across the world from all she had ever known. Jasey however calmly got up with tears running down her face and walked up the stairs, down the hallway, and going into the first door on the right. Her bedroom. She laid on her side and let out every tear she could possibly cry for the past 8 years.
Later that night Jasey woke up, unaware of the fact that she had even fell asleep. She went downstairs and ate dinner and got ready for bed then checked her face book. While she was scrolling through her feed she noticed she was tagged in a lot of things, each post just a one word insult. Something as simple as "bitch" or "slut" was enough to bring Jasey to tears. Jasey hated crying, it made her feel weak and helpless, like she couldn't control the shitty situation that she was in at the moment. She couldn't take it anymore. She was moving the mouse to log out when she saw something that caught her eye. A random person named Ashton Irwin who she didn't even remember adding as her friend responding to every comment. If they wrote "ugly", Ashton would write "beautiful". if someone would write "fat" Ashton would write "skinny and healthy". with the tears still flowing down her face Jasey smiled. An honest smile too, not a bittersweet smile. And tagged him in a simple "thank you" and logged out.
Tabitha came upstairs telling Jasey it was time to pack, because the house was up for sale and she already bought a house for them in Australia. Jasey just sighed and did as she was told, fearing if she didn't she would get hurt again. Once Jasey had everything she needed packed she went to her mother who told her to take it out to the moving truck that was already in the driveway. And yet once again Jasey did as she was told. And again, she did it out of fear. Once her mother had everything packed up she put it in the truck and booked a flight for the both of them and told the shipping company exactly where to take all of these boxes. Jasey packed a plane bag for what she needed and made sure her phone and ipod was charged so the next 24 hours wouldn't be so long and treacherous.
Once Jasey and Tabitha had boarded the plane, they took their seats and both plugged in their headphones and blasted it. They were so alike in that one way, that whenever they wanted to be alone, they were alone with headphones and a cell phone. The flight was relatively calm, except Jasey's Phone died. So she actually had to interact with people. She just opted for sleeping instead because ew people. Once the flight landed Jasey's mom shook her awake which scared her because she didn't know who was touching her. Once off the flight they got their luggage and took a taxi to their new home that her mother had apparently bought so they at least had a place to stay while they were there. Jasey got to pick her room, considering Tabitha wouldn't be there very much, just like usual.
As soon as she got in her room she loved it, the faint blue walls and the size, it was all perfect. She knew she would have to get knew furniture which didn't excite her but she was starting a new life, and that was expected. But for now the air mattress in the closet would have to do..
