"Mother! Nonsense." Yelling coming from the kitchen. I bet it's Mom yelling at Nan. Nan's been really confused lately. We've been telling her and telling her that what she thinks is impossible. Nan thinks that there could be dinosaurs around. Yes. It makes no sense at all. They died out millions of years ago! How could they still be around today. "They are still lurking, Hailey!" Hailey is my Mom's name. "Mom, what makes you think this?" "BECAUSE THEY ARE LURKING!!"

I grab a pizza slice out of the box and sit down on the couch trying to calm down. Sometimes life can be very confusing. Maybe there is dinosaurs still? No, that's extremely impossible. But you know, the world says that word wrong. Maybe it's meant to be said, im possible? I'm not sure but I'm not going to believe anyone just yet.

I slowly go up the stairs to my bedroom. I turn my cute pink lamp on and hop on my bed. I pick up my book, Harry Potter and read until midnight. Before I know it I'm asleep with my book in my hand and my lamp on. I hear a beeping noise but I think it's in my sleep. I open my eyes to drink some water. I see a bright orange light coming from downstairs. I scream as loudly as I can. "FIRE!!!! FIRE!!!! FIRE!!!!" I run to Nan's room across the hall and wake her. She awakens and we sprint to Mom's room. We wake her up. We can't get out the front door because thats where the flames are. "Kayley, don't panic." I think to myself. "I know! Grab the phone and we can go out on the balcony.

The door is made of metal and glass, so the fire won't get there. I grab the phone from the upstairs hallway and slide open the balcony door to let Mom and Gran out. I close it and dial 911. "Hello, what is your emergency?" I yell over the sounds of bright burning flames. "OUR HOUSE IS ON FIRE!" I breathe as normally as I can. "Ok. We'll be on our way as quick as we can." I can hear sirens coming from the west and I think we are alright. The flames have not reached my room yet, which is good because that is where my balcony is. I try not to look behind me.

I can see men in bright yellow suits with special masks running inside the house with hoses and fire extinguishers. Suddenly, the crackling flames stop and I can't see any more. They tell us not to go inside, and I hear a helicopter up above us coming down. The ladder releases. "Hailey, you can go first." Nan yells. Mom slowly puts a foot out on one step and climbs up one. "Come on, Kayley." Mom shouts. I almost slip as I slowly grab onto the ladder. I'm on the ladder now and Mom tells me to help Nan on. I hold her hands and she climbs on. Me and Mom are now in the helicopter. I hear a squeaking noise and Nan yelling for help. Her and her wrinkled hands are holding on to the bottom step tightly. I'm scared. Very scared. I'm not losing my precious Nan. I can't let her slip any more than that.
