The next day...

I walk into school, rushing madly because the bell is about to go in about a minute. I sprint up the bike path, who cares if I get hit? At least I'll have an excuse. As I reach the green doors, I notice something in the fern beside the door. What is it? I pick it up, it reads: "Poetic rhymes are super fine, but now it's time to be divine. Slide the doors open, through the halls, all you need is someone spectacularly tall." What does that mean? I stop and think, heart racing still from running. Oh, I get it! It's a treasure hunt, and I have to find a tall person who's in on it... Who though? Maybe Hugo, or Natalie... Might be Jasper or Milly. The first person out of those four I see is Milly, so I walk that way. "Hi, Milly... Do you know anything about this?" She shakes her head sadly. I scout around to look for Jasper, he's in my class. I finally spot him, and he's actually with Hugo! "Hey boys, what do you know a-" Before I can even finish speaking, Hugo pulls out a slip of paper out from his shirt pocket. This one reads: "Hello, how are you? You must like fondue! Take a little guess what might be next." Hmm... I know, the cafeteria, maybe near the gourmet sweets vending machine! I'll keep looking at lunch, maybe this treasure hunt will help solve the problem with the dinosaurs!

The first lesson of the day is Homeroom, as it always is. My teacher grins as I walk in the door. She is my favorite teacher, Ms. Pope! She is a young lady, probably about 25. "I see you walked in right on time, Miss Yogurt! I wait for the snickers from Leslie and Paula, but they thankfully aren't here. My best friend Ariella seems surprised too. I sit down at my desk, second row, next to Matthew... Ugh. He has a slight crush on me, and when Ariella was sick on the first day of school he was happy to take her place for A WHOLE YEAR. "Okay, class. Get out your mathematics reference books, we will be looking at tesselations and how to make them."

I slide open the tub under my desk to see it very messy. I'm not normally a person who is that disorganized, so my predictions are that someone went through my tub to steal my awesome 'Gap' hat. Nice try, but I've still got it. I ruffle through it all to finally find my huge reference book. "Turn to page 242, stat." I flip through as fast as I can. Page 10, 24, 47, 90, 144, 200, 203, and at last, 242. "Who would like to read the heading?" I shoot my hand up into the air. "Kayley?" I fix my eyes on the bold, italic heading as big as anything. "What is a Tessellation?" She nods for me to go on, so I continue. "In mathematics, a tessellation is an image filled with tiles of any shape or form. The only rules of a tessellation is that they fit perfectly together, without the use of gaps or overlaps. In the twentieth century, the artist M.C. Esher made use of tessellation's quite frequently in geometry for an artistic effect. There are books with many of his works with using tessellation's." Ms. Pope raises her eyebrows approvingly and gives a thumbs up. "We are going to create a tessellation in our math books today, students. I hope you have fun, as that is the key."

I open my tub again to reach for my grid paper book. There we go, right at the top of the messy pile. I pull out a pencil and some colors. Hmm.. How should I make my tessellation? I do it creatively and different. *Check photo at the top* Ms. Pope smiles as I hand it in after 20 minutes working on it. Ms. Pope gets our attention by clapping. "Those in the middle school choir group, off you go." That's me, Ariella, Kellen, Lanella, Tyler and Dean. We assemble and then make our way to the music school. We start talking about Taylor Swift's new album, 1989 as we walk.

When we reach the music school, I spot my crush, Nich. I smile as he says, "Hey" to me. He's not a cool kid, but he's good enough for me. We climb up the steep stairs to at last reach the choir rehearsal room. The song we are rehearsing is 'Up' by Olly Murs feat. Demi Lovato. So far it sounds great, but the boys are messing around again. But then I spot something completely unusual. Kellen's ears are growing, and his eyes are rolling uncontrollably. What's up with him? Maybe it's a sign he's going through rough times? Then I notice. He is growing a tail. A short, scaly one. His hand comes forward and pulls my hair. I scream and Mr. Brincat, one of the choir teachers comes over. "Oh my gosh, what's happening!?!?!?" I shrug nervously as he tries to calm down Kellen. Gold, silvery metallic dust emerges from his fingertips, like he has some kind of special power. Then, it catches on to Dean right next to him. He grows spikes on his back, like a stegosaurus. His hair suddenly sticks up like a mohawk and he sticks his tongue out and then it turns brown/green. I'm scared, and there's absolutely nothing we can do about that.

The whole back row of boys has now gone crazy. Mrs Chan calls in the counselor to deal with them, and brings us out the room and tells us to report to the principal, Dr. Drennen. This is crazy, and I have no idea what is going to happen next.

It soon comes lunch, time to continue the treasure hunt. My class makes our way to the cafeteria, and I go over to the vending machine. I don't see any pieces of paper. Wait! Theres one on top of the fondue box! I have to buy it, $2.50. I rifle through my backpack until I finally find my purse. Yes, just enough money! I slide it into the coin slot and then press the number for the package. I feel with my hand down the bottom of the machine, YES! I have the paper and my dessert! I'd better go order my lunch.

I hope you like it! This chapter is a bit more eventful, I like it more. Lots of love, -Charlotte or VanillaChaii
