Borasca
(noun) a brief storm, usually with thunder and lightning.~
The following week passed by quickly, as if Time had somewhere to be and didn't care if anyone got left behind. Phil most certainly did.
In that week, he had botched two tests and finished no homework. His teachers were growing increasingly impatient, threatening emails and calls to be sent to his parents.
As if they would care.
Regardless of the meaningless threats, Phil could feel his subconscious deteriorating at the thought of all the assignments he had missed. He wasn't one to fall behind. Despite everything, he kept up with his work in an attempt to remain unnoticed by people who could bend his life with their bare hands. God forbid they find out. God forbid they make him talk to a therapist.
He really didn't know what happened. There were just other things to focus on.
Another thing to focus on.
Phil blinked and tried his best to clear his wandering thoughts. His throat was scratchy and dry and his neck was uncomfortably cold, but he was experiencing a rare moment where his eyesight was clear and his hearing was untouched. He could not waste a precious moment like this distracted.
Insignificant
(adj) describing or relating to brown eyes and messy hair.Phil tried to single out his teacher's voice, above all of the thoughts that flew around the air and trapped his ability to think clearly.
Unimportant
(adj) describing or relating to crocked smirks and articulate accents. He exhaled, glaring at the teacher's power point with tired eyes.
Crucial
(adj) describing or relating to boys who steal books and break rules for no other apparent reason than to mess with one's feelings."Dan, why don't you read your submission to the class?"
With that sentence, Phil's thoughts were cut short, and he directed every ounce of his attention to the frail woman standing tall at the front of the classroom. His teacher tucked a strand of her pale gray hair behind her ear, staring intently at something directly behind Phil. He slowly turned, and he was met with the sight of Dan Howell bent over his desk, reading something from a book. The teacher cleared her throat and Dan looked up, locking eyes with Phil.
Look, you've been caught in the act.
Why are you always looking at him?
You're already so weird, staring isn't going to help.
"Sorry, I won't anymore," Phil mumbled, breaking his eye contact with Dan. "You won't what anymore?" Dan asked, confused. Phil flushed red and opened his mouth, attempting to speak but failing miserably.
Oh god, what have you done this time?
You know you aren't supposed to speak to us out loud.
How stupid are you? Do you want people to know how messed up you are?
Phil shook his head, eyes flicking up to Dan's bewildered face for a brief moment. The temperature in the room started to heat up, and Phil could feel beads of sweat forming at the top of his forehead as the moisture was sucked out of him. Dan cocked his head, never taking his eyes off Phil's strained features.
