"Crap!" Zack pushes his chair down and lies down.

"Get down!" I lay down too. "Why? If they look in the window they can still see us can't they?" He smiles, opening up the glove compartment and pulls out a sheet, throwing it over us.

"Stay still. If they look in they won't think we are in here" he says quietly. We begin whispering.

"Something tells me you have done this multiple times before" I say.

"You're sitting in my house."

"What? What do you mean your house? This is a car."

"I live out of my car" he says, looking down.

"Well...I guess you were right when you said 'I'm a lonely guy with too much time.'"

"I'm pretty sure that if I cared I would be offended by that comment, plus you're pretty weird too. You met me a few minutes ago and now you're literally in my sheets" he says, smirking at his joke. I hit the back of his head for the second time since I met him.

"that's for the joke. And if I didn't care I would be offended by you calling me weird."

"Well what now?" Jake looks at me curiously.

"You're the detective, you tell me."

"I need your ideas so I know what to not do." I frown at his response.

"Well don't you want to find the killer before he gets another person?" He shakes his head.

"No, I don't want to scare him, then he will skip town. But I do need to identify him." He thinks for a second.

"Security cameras!"

"That should be easy to get since you're a detective." I pause. "Although I don't think the police would like you taking over." Jake smiles and takes out his phone. A few minutes later he speaks again.

"Got it."

"No way, I wanna see!" He hands me his phone. It really was the footage from the security cameras.

"How did you do that?!"

"It's linked to a computer I rent that's pretty powerful. I can use it to hack stuff when needed" he says with a shrug.

"I thought detectives were supposed to solve crimes, not commit them!"

"I'm not in the polices good graces, but I've solved more crimes than any police detective my age."

"Your age? I didn't think there were many others like you."

"Some bloke in England is calling himself the 'new-age Sherlock' but that's about it." We hear cars start up and drive away. The police have left. I laugh.

"Wow he must be good." I sit up and look out the window.

"Well the police are gone. Now what?" Jake stretches.

"I'm too tired to work. It's 10:30 now, I'm going to sleep." Karolin! I forgot about Karolin!

"Well..I guess I'll go back to my friend and let you sleep." I start to get out of the car.

"Your friend left." I pause. What?

"What?! She left without telling me?!"

"She assumed you left with me, I saw her pull out earlier."

"Why didn't you tell me?!" I get back in Jake's car.

"Now what am I supposed to do?"

"Well, you could stay with me, or I could drive you home. I already know where you live" he says and hands me my wallet. I can't help but stare at him, shocked.

"How did you do that?"

"Pick pocketing is surprisingly easy when you are wearing shorts."

"When did you take it?!" He shrugs.

"When we left the dinner."

"That skill must come in handy a lot."

"So am I taking you to your house or what?" he asks.

"Oh , yes. Thank you." I shut the car door. Jake starts up the car and begins driving, his phone giving him the directions to my house.

"Mind If I stay the night? I mean, could sleep on a couch or something. I have a few clothes to wash and that sort of things. Really, you owe me." I look at him for a second before responding.

"Sure, that's fine. I was going to invite you to stay the night anyway."

"Why?!" He seems shocked.

"Well, you don't really have a place to sleep, you sleep in the car. That must not be very comfortable. Besides, I may not be able to find you again tomorrow if I don't."

"Two questions, why do you care about seeing me again, and do you live alone?"

"Well I am already involved now, can't just leave in the middle of an investigation. And yes I do. Why?"

"Hmmm, but why do you care about doing it with me? You could continue by yourself.."

"You know how to do this, I do not have the experience."

"Okay, in that case I require compensation."

"Really?"

"Like you said, I'm a professional." I smirk.

"We'll see. You clearly need someone to help you so you won't just get rid of me."

"...Are you blackmailing me?"

"Maybe I am." Jake smiles at me.

"I like how you operate, maybe you aren't boring. Fine. I'll use your house and I'll allow you to work with me, deal?" I nod.

"Deal."
