"I like how you operate, maybe you aren't boring. Fine. I'll use your house and I'll allow you to work with me, deal?" I nod.

"Deal."

We pull into the apartment parking lot and get out of the car. The outside building lights were on so I could finally make out what kind of car Jake had. It was a beautiful black '67 Chevy Impala. Jake went to the trunk and took out a black garbage bag.

"I assume that's your stuff?" I ask as we head into my apartment.

"Yes, just some clothes, here" he hands me the bag.

"Work your woman magic." I glare at him.

"This time I will. But if you are going to keep using my place, you will do your own laundry." Jake just looks at me with a blank expression and I laugh at him.

"Don't worry, I'll show you how."

"It's not that, though I will need some instruction, but did you just invite me to stay longer than tonight?"

"You think this case will be done in a day?" I reply quickly.

"Oh, you're inviting me to stay until we're done! That makes more sense." He yawns and stretches.

"Where do I sleep?" I go over and unfold the couch.

"Here."

"Thanks." He hangs his coat on the coat rack revealing his white hoodie and black jeans.

"You're welcome. Need anything else?"

"A warm glass of milk would be nice." He removes his shoes and places them by the front door. I laugh at his request but get it anyway.

"It seems you do have some manners! Good to know you at least have a few."

"In Japanese culture keeping your shoes on inside is akin to flipping them off." He simply states. Hmm I've never heard that before.

"Are you sure? That could just be an excuse." I stare him down to see if he is telling the truth.

"Uhhhh it's not an excuse" He then breaks eye contact with me.

"You are lying to me Jake" I look at him creepily, trying to make him uncomfortable.

"Whatever! I am being polite! So what?" I smile.

"That's good, you just didn't really seem to be the type who would be polite earlier today."

"Yeah, well... Are there any blankets?"

"You're avoiding the subject Jake." I get him some blankets.

"Here ya go."

"Thanks...I'm going to sleep, thanks for the hospitality I guess" He climbs onto the couch.

"Goodnight, or whatever"

"Goodnight" I go into my own room.

"I definitely need to teach him some manners or he won't get many friends" I think as i get into bed and fall asleep.
