Twyne gruffed heavily, mumbling gibberish under his breath. "KATRTER!" Twyne screamed, wandering around. "WHERE ARE YOU?"
"Not right behind you, losing my hearing from your screaming!" Karter snapped sarcastically. Twyne quickly spun around and sucked in his cheeks. "What were you thinking? That beast of a lizard could be anywhere around here! Do you have a death wish or something?"
Karter chuckled and shook his head at Twyne. "Have you ever thought that maybe we just made a huge discovery and maybe we could get paid big bucks for it! That thing looks just like a dragon!"
Twyne stared at Karter in disbelief. Was he serious?
"Well you won't be able to get paid big bucks if you're dead, now will you?"
Karter tilted his head in thought. "Just come here, I have something to show you!" he said, grabbing his friend by the arm. Twyne reluctantly followed Karter through the slowly darkening woods, wanting nothing more but to leave and curl up in blankets.
Karter dragged and pulled until finally he had reached a big cave. "Karter what are you tryi-"
"Shhh! Listen."Twyne stood still, his arm still being roughly held by Karter. He waited and finally he heard something that sounded like one of those sounds that when you hear it, you realize it's been around for a while. It was like a humming growl.
"I've heard this sound before...," Twyne said after a moment. "I thought it was a river or something."
Karter nodded his head. "Me too!"
Karter and Twyne stood at the mouth of the cave for a moment, just listening. But then Karter took out his phone and smiled. "I'm going in." he said, slowly beginning to tiptoe inside.
Twyne's emotions of shock and sudden confusion stopped him from holding Karter back, or even realizing what was happening.
When he finally came to realization, he shook his head in disbelief for the millionth time today.
Did he seriously just go into that cave, he questioned himself. Yes he did!Well maybe you should go in after him! He might get eaten alive!
No way, if he's dying he's going down alone! I didn't sign up for this! This most definitely is not part of the unwritten contract of friendship.
But you guys are best friends! In fact, you're his only dang friend! You have to help him!
No I don't! He got himself in that mess. If he wants help, he can call 911!
Twyne began to turn around and leave when a sudden thought over came him.
"But he'd have your back..." he thought out loud.
