Twyne threw a rock at the dirty pond.
"You're doing it wrong," Karter muttered. "You don't just throw it. You toss it like a Frisbee for it to skip the water."
Twyne gave Karter a death stare, his eyes darkening."So what have you been up to lately?" Karter asked, nervously looking away from Twyne.
Twyne shrugged, making weird faces from thinking back."My aunt says my parents are going to put me in a summer camp for an entire month."
"Really?"
"Yeah..."
"You're not just gonna let them, right?"
"It makes no matter to me, honestly."
"Well it does to me."
"Oh?"
"Yes, actually."There was an awkward moment of silence. The boys sat there for a moment, thinking to themselves.
"Well...I'm going for a walk." Karter said and got up, dusting off his pants.
Twyne nodded and continued to throw stones at a pond.• • •
Twyne had fallen half asleep when he heard a sudden scream.
His eyes widened. He stood up quickly, starting to look around.
"Karter?" He asked.
He continued to look around."Karter! KARTER WHERE ARE YOU?" He yelled and began to walk around, starting to search. He was more than positive about that yell coming from Karter.
Twyne started running towards where the scream had come from. "KARTER?" He continued to yell.
And then Twyne saw Karter.
And something else. Something else.What...what?
What was he looking at?
"Karter. What..." His voice trailed off.Karter was backed up against a tree, and feet away from him was a blue...thing.
Big, bold wings.
Scaled skin.
A thick tail with plaits.
There were plaits on his head and back, too.
It's eyes were almost black, staring at Karter and now him.
It's nose flared, mouth curling."A dinosaur?" Karter muttered.
"Dinosaurs are extinct, you fool." Twyne said.
His mind swirled with thoughts, but then it hit him.
A dragon?Karter bit his bottom lip.
"Twyne?"
"Yeah?"
"I think I just crapped my underwear."
