-Seans POV-
The next day was hard. Everytime we passed each other in the halls, or even glanced at each other, I just wanted to run over to him. But I couldn't do that anymore. People noticed that we were the only two people gone for the rest of that day. Though no one said anything about it, in a small school like this, any change is taken note of. Even smiling at him seemed dangerous now.
Then again, he was dangerous. There was a whole aura about him, telling you to stay away, but beckoning you to come closer. And even if his eyes wandered and for a split second, landed on you, you were hooked.
I was most definitely hooked.
Once Chemistry came along, I rushed to class, and waited for him to arrive.
Today, we were the first ones in the class.
We sat down next to each other, as per usual. Mark smiled at me, causing a bright pink to flush through my face. That happened every single time he looked at me. "I had a lot of fun yesterday, just to let you know." he nodded. "I know you did. We should do something else. What are you doing after school?" I thought about it for a second.
"Probably studying for that Chemistry quiz we have tomorrow. "
"Oh come on, you don't even need to study. I've seen how many notes you have. Instead, you could come and do fun stuff with me," he tempted.
It was very hard to refuse that offer. Besides, Mark was right, I didn't actually need to study.
"I can't say no to that. What will we be doing?"
"I haven't thought of that. But I do have some ideas."
I nodded, and put my hand over his. This time, there was a dusty pink on his cheeks too. Of course, not like mine which was a bright shade of red.
I hadn't even noticed that people started to walk in. There was 5 people in the room, all staring at our hands which I disconnected almost immediately. "You know they're going to find out eventually." someone whispered, while everyone else sat down. I shook my head, "They can't find out if there's nothing to find out about." The other boy laughed and sat down at his table. Mark bit his lip, I could tell he was thinking about something. When I looked at him next, he was staring back at me. For a few moments we just looked at each other. Studying every detail about the other in silence. It wasnt awkward silence either, it was comfortable. I don't know if anyone was looking at us or talking to us because I didn't look away. I couldn't look away.
Then the gentle silence was broken by his silk voice.
"Go into the woods after school. I'll meet you there."
"Wai-"
"I need to talk to you, but not here."
I understood that it was something involving the both of us, or else he would've said it. The lesson was just going over the materials for the quiz tomorrow, and I tried to pay attention. Tried.-Marks POV-
I was counting down the seconds to when the day would finally be over, and I could tell Jack. This was all so weird to me, the giddiness, the anxiousness, all of it. It only happened when I was around him, of course. Sure I've had crushes before. But nothing had ever compared to the feelings that I had for this boy. All I needed to do was tell him.
-HAVENT SEEN A TIME SKIP IN AWHILE? HERE YA GO-
After my last class of the day I ran into the forest behind the red brick school. I waited for 5 minutes before I saw him. Jack leaned back onto a large tree trunk.
"So?"
"We can't just pretend we don't have feelings for each other. "
"Who said I had feelings for you?"
"Oh please Jack, " I even laughed a little."Come with me today, we can do something fun."
"Is this a date?"
"It can be anything you want it to be."
(Enjoy my cliche line above)
He didn't respond verbally to that question. Instead he nodded slowly, picking a leaf off of a tree and giving all of his attention to it. I grabbed the leaf and took his hand in mine, leading him through the thick woods.
"What do you want to do with our day?"
"Hm. Surprise me."
I smiled, already having a plan formed in my head.
~
"Laser tag..?"
"Laser tag!" I exclaimed
I led him into the building, UV lights glowing from the ceiling and neon colors everywhere. I didn't even try to hide my excitement. I payed the man at the desk and we headed into the room with all of the gear. Another man placed us on separate teams while we put on the vests. I looked over to Jack and mouthed. "I'm gonna win." he laughed and shook his head, gesturing to his team, that had 7 people compared to my 5. Though I had no doubts he would lose. A bell sounded off and everyone flooded into the arena, and people were being shot left and right. Although me and Jack were playing a game within the game, a one-on-one battle between us. He wasn't half bad either, neither of us had gotten hit yet. After a few minutes, he came out from behind his fort. But he didn't see someone running from the side, and he was sent falling backward. I ran to him right before he hit the ground, and caught him. My left arm was holding him up, maybe 2 feet from the neon green floor. Everyone around had stopped to look at us, freezing in mid attack. Jack's eyes had locked in place with mine, and he held his breath. I leaned down closer to him, until we were so close I could probably kiss him. And that's what he thought I was going to do. His eyes fluttered close but instead I smirked, raised my gun, and shot him, scoring the winning point for my team. He shook his head, smiling and walking out of the door beside me. Everyone was silent still besides for the stray giggles we heard from some girls.
Both of us undressed from our gear, and headed out of the small room, I to the lobby, then outside. The sun was preparing for the color show of purple, pink and orange that was known as the sunset.
"Asshole. " Jack whispered, grabbing my index finger with his pinky, swinging our hands back and forth.
"I know."
"That was probably the best date I've been taken on, though."
"Oh, so it's a date now?" a smile tugged on my lips.
"You said it can be anything I want it to be."
"I did say that. I had a lot of fun too."
We continued our walk as the sun went down. Minutes later Jack pulled me over to a bench. He leaned his head on my shoulder. I looked down at him, bathed in the beautiful hues of the sunset. His eyes were transfixed on the colors in front of him, his mouth wearing a delicate smile.
This bench might not be comfortable, but I would sit here all night if it meant he'd be there too.
The moment was gone way too soon because he had to leave.
"I have to go, I shouldn't even be out right now." Jack stood up and so did I. "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this."
I held out my hand which he gladly took.
"Your such a dork."
"I know."
We talked all the way to his house, and I was reluctant to leave once I had to.
"I'll see you tomorrow Jack."
We both smiled.
"See you tomorrow."
So I walked back to my home, thankful that I could take however long I wanted to, as I had no curfew.
I basically collapsed into bed, today was amazing but exhausting too.
I barely remember falling asleep, but I do remember the last thought that ran through my head.---
I love the idea of hardcore bad boy exterior Mark, who on the inside is just a cute goofball.
I really liked this chapter.
I have a few ideas for a new book although they'll probably be short.
Regardless, I hope you guys liked this chapter and I will see you all in the next update! Buh-bye!
