-Seans POV-
"... This year, you are Sophomores. And you are expected to act like it. If we see you doing anything the school deems undesirable, you will be punished accordingly. Understood?"
Everyone nodded. We had all heard this "ritual speech" many times before. Our principal, Mrs. Holt, left the cafeteria leaving us alone. I hated sitting in the cafeteria and usually would have went to the library. It was much more peaceful here than being surrounded by yelling high-schoolers. But this year there was a new student from the USA. His name was Mark. I sat at an empty table and scanned the room, looking for an unfamiliar face. It wasn't hard either, we had a very small group this year. You could tell he was new. He had bright pink hair sticking out in tufts from his Burgundy beanie. Neither of those things were allowed in the school, but he didn't seem to care. Mark looked around, smirking every so often. I was compelled to study him more, but just then his eyes landed on me. I blinked and grabbed the book I had taken with me and started reading. After a minute I secretly glanced up at him to find that he hadn't taken his eyes off of me. He smiled and shook his head. The bell rang and we all filed into our separate classes. Next I had chemistry. Mr. Douglas told us he would be assigning lab partners. I looked around trying to scope out who was in the class. And there I saw him again. Mark. "Sean...and Mark. Table 4." my eyes widened. I had a bad feeling about this. He was just so different from me. From everyone. From anyone I had ever really encountered. I sat down next to him. He was pretty muscular too, I could see it under his uniform. "Mm.. So you're Sean right?" I cleared my thoughts and saw that Mark was talking to me. "Yes..." I looked down at my desk, not meeting his intense gaze that was solely focused on me. "Well, I'm Mark. You probably know me already, you've been looking at me practically the whole day." My face flushed red and I accidentally looked up. He had the dumbest smirk on his face, and his caramel brown eyes glinted mischievously. "No I wasn't..I looked at you once and you just happened to be looking back." I stated, desperately trying to cool my burning cheeks. "Or, maybe you saw something you liked..." My whole face was beat red now. I looked in disbelief, and really hoped the teacher didn't hear that. I know what they do to gay kids here. "I think your wrong." I whispered. "I think your lying." he said playfully. No, no. I cannot have this happen to me. And not with him, especially. He is too bold and risky... Too much for me. "Suit yourself. I have people lined out the door who just want to talk to me.. You'll come around. Let me know when you do." he handed me a folded piece of paper.
"Mark, Jack, would you like to inform me of what is going on?""Well Mr. Douglas-" I started.
"I just asked where English class was."
The teacher glared at us. This is was very new to me. I had never been scolded by a teacher. Not once in all of my days of school. He continued the lesson and the idiot beside me looked at and laughed slightly. "I know exactly who you are now." Sighing, I opened my Chemistry textbook. For the rest of the year, it was me and him sitting together. This is gonna be one crazy ride.
-Mark's POV-
I couldn't help but smile. I had to admit, he was attractive. And he was definitely into me. Not to mention, so innocent. Such a good boy. I don't think he's met a guy like me before. He would be an adventure, that's for certain. But that's not a problem. Give him some time, I can guarantee he won't be that innocent anymore. I ignored the man talking at the front of the class.
"Sean."
He looked up from the book, his pale blue eyes reflecting the light from the window behind us.
"Hm?"
"I don't have a textbook. Can I look off of yours?"
He drew in a long breath before nodding and sliding the book in between us. I slowly inched over until our shoulders were touching. He tensed, and we both looked at each other. I honestly didn't need to see the textbook, I had my own. But I wanted an excuse to be closer to him. I had one, and it worked. After a few minutes he relaxed and I could feel his steady breaths, as gentle as the breeze outside in the fall air. The bell then rang and I grabbed my book from under the seat.
"So you did have a textbook?"
I nodded shyly, then sped off to my last class of the day. It was very odd for me to be shy about anything. I tend to be a bold person. But Sean made me feel different.
I think I made him feel different too.---
