-Mark's POV-

I wished I could've spent more time with him yesterday. It's a fact that as soon as I got home I went to sleep, not bothering to tell my family I was home or eat dinner. I just wanted tomorrow to come sooner. I'm glad it did.
I even got to school earlier than I usually do. Although that's not saying much because normally I arrive while the bell rings. There's not many things I would sacrifice for extra sleep, but even a few minutes more with him was worth it.
I neared closer to the brick school building and saw his small figure sitting cross legged on the ground. There was some kind of bug on the ground, and he poked at it with a twig. I unconsciously smiled to myself and picked up the pace until Jack looked up,returning the smile. I sat down across from him.
"Hi."
"Hi, Mark."
I picked up the bug, which turned out to be a ladybug, and brought my hand closer to my chest, holding it while it crawled around on my fingers. Jack fake pouted.
"Is someone jealous?", I raised my eyebrow and questioned him.
"What, of that little bug? Nope. "
"Maybe your just sad that I'm holding it and not you."
He rolled his eyes,"Definitely." he tried to hide his 'Yeah-you're-right-again' smile with his hand. I set the ladybug down, and it raced away from us.
"By the way, you accidentally left your beanie with me a few days ago."
He pulled out the grey hat that I had intentionality left with him before I left to make reservations at the restaurant.
"I know I did.
"Do you want it?", Jack held it out for me to take. I shook my head and grabbed it, fitting it on his neatly done hair.
"You look cute with it on."
I was glad there was no one around. It was one of the few times we could spend together before other students arrived.
"T-thanks?"
I pulled it over his eyes and kissed the tip of his nose. He just sat there smiling, his hands reaching out and finding mine.
"Are you doing anything after school, Mark?"
"Nope, I'm not doing anything."
"Do you want to... Come over to my house?"
"I'd love that."
I pulled up the beanie, restoring his vision.
Other people started to get to school, and our little moment was ended. We disconnected our hands and stood up to walk to the nearby outside wall of the school. Some people still looked at us. A few of them even shook their heads before walking inside. Especially one boy, who stopped to look at us. Jack removed my hat, placing it inside his white backpack. I glared back at the person, taking note of his features so I could remember him. He walked away a few moments later with the mob of people flooding into the school.
"Who's he?" i asked
"His name is Aidan. I think he's a football player."
"What an ass." I sighed.
The bell rang a minute or two later which forced us to split up and go to our separate classes.

-Jack's POV-

It was weird asking someone to come to my house. Especially because 1.Ive never had anyone over, 2.It's Mark.
I don't think my parents would mind. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't like him though. He's the opposite of me, and they'd probably think he would be a 'bad influence'. Which isn't wrong.
I guess I hadn't realized I was staring right at Aidan. A ball of paper whizzing past snapped me back into the real world.
He smiled at me, but it wasn't a polite smile. More of a 'i could fuck your life up with one sentence to the principal' smile. That wasn't wrong either. Hopefully it wouldn't come down to that though. Hopefully.
I figured I should pay attention to the lesson at the front of the room. Missing school for part of the day a few days ago left me confused and with more homework than I prefer.
As much as I tried to distract myself I could still feel a pair of eyes lingering on me. At least Aidan wouldn't be in my next class. Just get through the next 25 minutes.

-Lunch-

I was never alone at lunch now. Mark always came and sat across from me at the empty table.
"Aidan definitely knows."
He sighed.
"I thought so. Let's just hope he has the decency to keep it to himself. Or we'll have to use plan B."
"Plan B?"
"We could bribe him, do him a few favors. Then there's good old plan C. Beating the shit out of him."
I didn't like the sound of the last plan.
"Maybe he won't tell anyone."
Mark bit his lip and shook his head.
"It's possible, but I'm doubtful."
I twirled a piece of my hair around my finger and tapped my foot anxiously. Seconds later a pair of legs pinned my own down, stopping them from bouncing.
"Stop worrying. It's going to be okay Jack. We aren't even in a relationship, so he has no proof that we're not straight."
He was right that we weren't together. It made me a bit sad though, that we weren't actually official. He picked up on this feeling.
"Not in a relationship yet, anyway."
He kicked my leg playfully and we both smiled at each other. I wasn't nervous for him to come to my house anymore.

-After School, outside. -

In chemistry we agreed to meet behind the school after the bell. He arrived moments after I did.
"Where to?"
"Follow me."
I nervously held out my hand, which he gladly accepted.
"Oh, I almost forgot."
I reached into my bag with my free hand, searching around for the grey beanie.
I looked over to him after I put it on. He was beaming, his smile brighter than the yellow sun above us.
We walked and talked about our day, and what we would do when we got to my house. I suggested video games and found that he played them too. As we went through the path in the woods and my large brick house came into view I let go of his hand.
Fortunately for us, my mother should be the only one home right now.
He leaned against the door frame and I struggled to push open the door. I have lived here my whole life but of course, I still hadn't mastered opening the front door. I threw my arms down in defeat and stood out of the way.
"Uhm.. Mark can you open my door please?"
He laughed, and easily pushed upon the door.
"I'm just too strong."
"Yeah right. I loosened it up for you."
Mark rolled his eyes and we stepped into the house and closed the door behind us.

---
I went on a trip to Canada for the first time a few days ago :)
It was super fun, but I didn't get a ton of writing done while I was there.
And being the stereotypical American tourist, I had to get a mini bottle of pure maple syrup.
It's delicious.
And if you haven't heard, I just started a new septiplier book called Aftermath! So go check that out of you'd like.
I hope you liked this chapter, and I will see you in the next update! Buh-bye!
