Chapter 6

"Katie?"

"Yeah, mom?" I answered.

"Are you even listening to what I'm saying? I said I'll be coming home late. You don't have to wait for me." My mom says while putting her important things in her bag.

"Okay." I said, not really paying attention.

"Don't forget to lock the front door everytime, okay? I have my own keys." She kisses me on the forehead. She really still thinks that I'm a baby.

"Yeah, have fun with your date." I gave her a teasing smile.

She looked at me. "It's not a date, honey. It's a business project." I rolled my eyes at her.

I know rolling your eyes to your parents isn't right but she can't hide anything from her own daughter.

"Just, remember all the things I said." I nodded.

She grabbed the car keys and went outside. When she's already settled she waved goodbye and I waved back. I closed the door and just stare at my quiet house.

"Well it's just you and me, house." I said to no one. I'm actualy afraid someone will answer back but good thing there's no one.

It's only 5 in the afternoon. What am I supposed to do? I called Daniele but she said she's with her relatives until tomorrow so she can't join me. I sighed.

I went to the kitchen and grab something to eat and a soda. I went back to the living room and sit on the couch. I turned on the tv and browse the channels. There's nothing that I am in the mood to watch so I just watched a replay of American Idol.

After an hour of just watching I got hungry again. Yeah, I eat a lot especially when I'm bored. It's already 6 o' clock, I should prepare my own dinner. I opened the cabinets and search for food that can be called 'dinner', unfortunately all I found is cereal and stuff that I will absolutely not eat. I decided to just eat somewhere.

I grabbed my hoodie, the key to the house and my phone. I went outside, locked the door and smell the cool breeze.

I looked at the McDonoughs house whose still empty and started walking.

On the way, my mind is debating where to eat. At first McDonald's is a good idea but I don't feel eating some Mc's. So I just went to the one and only: Chipotle.

I went inside and sit to the table near the windows. I spotted some group of teenage girls looking at me but I just ignored them. The waitress came and I told her my order. "The usual, please." I said. She smiled and nodded.

Once my order has arrived I started to dig in. I may look like a hungry dog but I don't care. I am enjoying my burrito and nachos. I'm in the middle of eating my burrito when two girls from the group of teenage girls came to me.

"You're Kate Ambler, right?" The girl with blonde hair asked. I swallowed my food then nodded. "Connor's girlfriend?" She continued.

"Uh, yeah, why are you guys asking?" I asked. They are clearly BYE fans obviously.

"Oh my god! I'm talking to Kate Ambler!" The other girl with glasses shouted. The people that are also inside started looking at our direction.

"Uhm, okay." I offered for my hand and smiled at them.

"I'm Alicia." The blonde one said while shaking my hand.

"And I'm Nina." The one with glasses said and shook my hand.

"Nice to meet you both." I nodded and smiled.

"So are you also waiting for them here?" Nina asked.
