Chapter 8: Messed Up Life

"How do you know each other?" I asked kind of scared if the answer was going to be bad.

"These boys have a reputation." Ryan simply answered.

"You better leave now. And when I say now, I mean now." Conner seethed out.

"What reputation?" I asked.

"A reputation you don't need to know about," Ryan said.

Jakes arm tightened around me, if that was even possible.

"What's going on Declan?" I asked him, hoping he'd answer, but only got him glaring at Ryan.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, I broke free of Jakes tight grip and backed away, glaring at the boys.

"Ryan, lets go."

He didn't move.

"Ryan. Lets. Go."

Next thing you know, Conners fist was smashing into Ryan's jaw. Ryan stumbled back a bit before he too smashed his jaw into Conners jaw. Conner was about to charge at him, but Declan held him back.

Chuckling humorlessly, Ryan shook his head and turned towards me.

"It may look like they're 'protecting you' when really it's all a game. A sick disgusting game." He seethed out.

"So I've been told," I said with a roll of the eyes. "Look I'm leaving. I don't care if you guys aren't on good terms, but I just need to relax."

With that, I turned around and got on my board and skated away.

I skated to the one place I love the most. A place no one else knows about. My escape.

It's my special treehouse.

The same treehouse that comforted me when my parents died. The same treehouse I had tea party's at with my stuffed animals. The same treehouse I've known and loved for all my life.

Slowly, I climbed up the tree and smiled at the many memories I had when climbing up. Like the time I broke my leg from falling down. Or when I broke my arm while falling down again. Or when I broke my -

I was clumsy back then.

Once I got to the top I looked up at the sky where the sun was shining bright. You could just look out and over all of the forest and if you turn around you could see the ocean and beach. It's just breathtaking.

I sat down on my board and rolled back and forth from one side of the tree house to the other.

"Why is my life so complicated?" I whispered.

Ok, I may be acting dramatic right

Now, but I'm a girl and we over exaggerate.

My phone vibrated in my pocket and I took it out with a sigh. Jake appeared on my screen. Sighing, I unlocked my phone and opened the text.

-jake

'Sorry bout earlier. It's just we're trying to help you and protect you. We don't trust Ryan or Anthony. You mean a lot to me. :D'

I mean a lot to Jake. I, out of all people mean a lot to Jake. By golly. It's been my dream ever since I've met him.

My phone buzzed again.

-jake

'To us*'

And it was just crushed. Destroyed. Pulverized.

-Camille

'It's fine. I understand. You guys mean a lot to me. To us* ;D'

I may have put a smiley wonky face at the end, but in all reality it kind of hurt that he didn't want me to know he cares.

With that thought, I shoved my phone back in my pocket and got up. I made my way back down towards the ground and slowly made my way back towards my house.

My life's messed up.
