Third person POV:

"Father is going to be furious with this... scandal! Why the Hades am I part of this mare's nest?!" Athena exclaimed as she prepped more hot damp towels.

"Yes, my point exactly. Why are you here? And to make things clear, my unborn child isn't a scandal, you are." Poseidon snarked.

"Well if you're going to be a smartass, first you have to be smart, otherwise, you're just an ass." she taunted.

"There isn't a rule for the number of children I can have. It's a matter of contesting for a seat in the council." Poseidon said in a manner-of-fact tone.

"Anyway, I shouldn't be explaining this to you. Aren't you the Goddess of Wisdom?"

Athena stood up and slapped Poseidon with the towel she was holding.

"Gods that is disgusting!" Poseidon said while wiping away whatever the towel was soaked in.

"Oh, quit it! You imbeciles don't have to push a bloody watermelon out of your body. If this does not stop, oh so help me Gods, I'll chain you both up Mount Olympus and have a huge ferocious vulture peck your livers for the rest of your petty immortal lives!" Amphitrite threatened.

"Calm down my dear, it's time to push again, I can almost see the head!" Hestia said excitedly, unbothered by the squabble surrounding her.

Poseidon who was hanging back during his wife's outburst, moved forward once she stilled, running his fingers down her arm with the intent of smoothing her.

"Also, there is nothing wrong with Children my dear. They are the miracles of life!" Hestia chipped in the discussion.

"Exactly! Couldn't have said better myself. Besides Zeus doesn't need to know until we are ready," he took Amphitrite hand and wrapped it with his. Kissed it softly. Looked into her eyes and whispered, "All will be well. I'll take care of it."

"As touching as that sounds, you know how overly..." Athena stopped midway not sure if there's an accurate word to describe how... eccentric her father can be with news.

"Paranoid?" Poseidon suggested while struggling to keep a straight face.

Though Athena agreed, she just didn't want to give her uncle the satisfaction. "Concerned over matters of the throne."

Poseidon rolled his eyes, "I know the law. I just have to find a loophole everything will be fine. I just want some time alone with my family before he brings in his dramatics."

Meanwhile in another room

On tiptoes, Triton reached up onto the window ledge, eyes wide, hoping to see his younger brother or sister, "Is mother done yet?" asked for the millionth time.

"Gods Triton, asking you to sit today is like trying to tell a fire not to burn, my dear. Be patient and eat your cereal. You'll be the first one to know once the baby is out." Demeter promised.

-

"My love, you can do this, our little darling is almost here!" Poseidon encouraged while holding his wife's hand.

Amphitrite squeezed her husband's hand, with each contraction, it came with pain that dominated her whole body. When the pain passed, it was only a minute or so before Hestia told her it was time to push again. With a guttural grunt, she did so and was told to stop, one was enough. Without any further effort, the baby slid onto the hands of Hestia.

He turned his glossy eyes to his wife and said with a little crack in his voice, "We have a beautiful son."

Hestia wrapped the precious baby in a blanket and handed him over to Poseidon. The newborn stirs in the blanket and peered through his eyes. His bright sea-green eyes found his father's and he laughed, a sweet sound unblemished by the hurts of life.
