I've never met anyone like you before.

Fee's POV

I woke up to vaguely familiar surroundings. I was in Adam's bed again. My leg was fitted with a full length cast and the worst of my wounds were professionally stitched up.

'Adam...' I groaned

No response.

'Adam' I cried out a little louder

I heard soft padded footsteps approaching the room.

'Sorry, I'm sorry, I literally just went to the bathroom, I've been right here the whole time, I promise'

'Adam why am I here'

'I fought to keep you'

I looked at him puzzled.

'The doctors insisted that you stay, and that they could help you recover, but I remained convinced that you would heal better somewhere where you weren't deathly afraid, and with someone you could trust. I explained to them what happened after I told you, you had to stay, and told them that if they kept you there, it would happen over and over again, and it would put you in more danger than it was worth, I said I'm taking her. You can either fix her leg and let me take her or I'll just take her right now, of course, being medical professionals they wanted to fix your leg, and stitch up your cuts, but they knew I wasn't leaving without you. I do care Fee. I'm a terrible liar. If I say I want to take care of you, I really mean it. The only bad news is they demanded I bring you in once a fortnight for a check up and your leg does need to be operated on. But I thought that was a pretty small price to pay to get you out of there'

Tears started welling in my eyes.

'Thank you' I whispered

'It's what any Christian with morals would do'

'No. I don't think many other people, Christian or not, would've done what you did.'

He looked down at his feet, and shuffled around in his chair.

'You're a special guy Adam. I've never met anyone like you before'

'I've never met anyone like you either Phoenix. You're a survivor, and so brave.'

I reached out and grabbed his hand. I closed my eyes and planted a soft kiss on his palm. When I opened my eyes again he was gazing back at me, his expression unreadable. I smiled and released his hand from my grasp. I started to feel my eyelids becoming heavy, too heavy to fight anymore.

'Goodnight' I whispered, before retiring to a world of dreams.
