Chapter 4

I am woken by the feeling of freezing water been thrown over my face. I squint my eyes open and shake my head in shock from the contact. I glance at my surroundings and the chair I'm sat on immediately start getting nervous. Where am I? I look down and notice I'm still in my birthday dress and became extremely confused. I look over to my right and see an unfamiliar thirty year old looking man in sharp clothing stare at me intensely which was enough to freak the shit out of me.

"Where, where am I?" I stutter trying to figure out how much danger I was in.

"And now I expect the questions to start flowing at me. Let me save you some trouble. My name is Max, and I am the one who was sending you those unknown messages you received." He says in an almost friendly voice. I stare at him, mouth wide open before speaking.

"What do you want with me?"

"The messages that were sent to you was all part of a test to see when your breaking point would be. Our aim was to try and tire out you brain so much that your ability would start kicking in." he says, about to continue however I stop him.

"Hold on. It was a test? Wait what ability?" I question completely confused about what he was saying.

"Yes a test. We started sending you threatening messages so it could cause some trauma in your brain. We also asked Landon to trouble you a little so you could trigger the defence mechanisms, as well as making sure you were feeling as many emotions as possible, including happy ones which is why your father was able to come home. We tried to create as many brain stress triggers as possible in a busy and hectic environment which was your birthday party in order for you to break. For you to break and unleash your power." He finishes looking me deep in the eyes.

I start laughing and say "This must be a fucking dream. There is no way this is real." I try and pinch myself but all I get is a sting from my arm.

"Elora stop. This is not a dream, I need you to understand everything in order for you to answer some very important questions so snap out of it." He says sternly, but something about him didn't seem threatening at all.

"Ok so what your trying to tell me is that this has all been a set up and you are working with Landon and I have some supernatural ability?" I ask sarcastically with my eyes wide open.

"Yes." He replies emotionless.

"So what is my power then?" I ask leaning standing up to meet his eyes. It's not like I can really believe any of this, but there must me something going on for them to bring me all the way here, wherever here was.

"We don't know. That's what you have to tell us." He mentions before I go into another laughing fit.

"Well I'm sorry bro, but didn't wake up one day and figure out I could fly. So I don't know either." I say as a matter of fact.

"Listen Elora, you're still exhausted, so let's give you some food before we talk anymore about this." He says before walking towards the door.

I walk up with him and ask, "What about my parents?"

"Don't worry, we have been in contact with your mum since last week and told her everything she needs to know. That could be why she was acting weirdly and always going off randomly to places, because she was meeting with us. We told her to keep it a secret from you."

I was getting more and more confused by the second. My mum has been meeting with these people to talk about my power? Does dad know? How did I get a power? What even is my power?
