For the rest of the day, Maya didn't see Lucas, which she was thankful for that. Lucas didn't even show up to his classes, he didn't see the point he already had detention so what's the worst that could happen?

Maya was dreading the moment where she'd have to go to detention and see Lucas, she just hoped he wouldn't talk to her but she knew that was highly unlikely.

When the final bell went, indicating the end of school, Maya made her way to the detention room. When she walked in she noticed only her and Lucas were in there. Great.

Lucas had made sure no one got detention, so he could be alone with Maya and annoy her. He knew he couldn't annoy her if there was other people in detention, well he could, but it'd be least effective if others were there.

Maya sat right at the back of the room, far away from Lucas. Being in the same room with him was close enough. Lucas looked at Maya and smirked, Maya rolled her eyes before Mr Matthews spoke.

"Alright kids, detention starts now. No talking, no cell phones, quiet." He walks over to the door and opens it before shutting it and locking it behind him. She was locked in a room with Lucas Friar, great.

She could hear Lucas' footsteps approaching her. She let out a big sigh, "Go away."

She looked up at him and saw that he was smirking, "Ooh! Someone's feisty!"
He chuckled and sat in the seat next to her.

"What do you want?!" She was getting annoyed.

"I just want to talk to you." He smirked, this is fun.

Before Maya could reply her phone went off, she put it in her hands and read the text.

Unknown: Maya, Maya. Getting in trouble again I see? At least this time you didn't get away with it...

She froze. It had to be Lucas, who else could it be?

She glared at Lucas, "Just leave me the fuck alone! Stop stalking me! Stop sending me texts! And most importantly stop talking to me!"

Lucas looked confused, he had no idea what the hell she was talking about.
"What are you talking about?"

Maya groaned in frustration, "Don't act dumb, you know exactly what I'm talking about!"

Lucas looked at the clock and an hour had already past, where has the time gone? He didn't notice Mr Matthews unlocking the door.

"I have no idea what you're talking about Maya." He looked back at Maya, "All I wanted was for us to be friends.
There's something different about you that I found intriguing and I want to get to know you more."

With that, Lucas walked out of the room and this time, leaving Maya speechless.

           ———

Maya still couldn't wrap her head around what Lucas had said to her earlier today, Lucas wants to be with me?

Her phone going off stopped her trail of thoughts. She looked at the number and it didn't seem familiar.

Unknown: are we good?
Maya: umm... I'm sorry, but who are you?
Unknown: right... You don't have my number. Lucas.

How the hell did he get my number? She was only half surprised, after all Lucas was the most popular boy at John Quincy Adams Middle School, he probably paid some one.

Maya: I guess?
Lucas: Maya, I'm serious.
Maya: I know, Lucas. I don't know what you're implying.
Lucas: friends?
Maya: friends.

Maya never thought she'd see that day that Lucas and her would actually be friends, wow. The only thing now was: if Lucas isn't the person tormenting her, than who is it?
