Chapter 3; Old Church

Maya still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that she was friends with Lucas Friar, Lucas fucking Friar. Wow. The whole walk to school all Maya was thinking about was why? Why was Lucas so eager to be her friend? Lucas is so popular, why would he want to friends with... Her? All these questions was giving her a headache.

Maya was at her locker, getting her books for history, when she heard a familiar voice behind her.

"Hey, hart." She turned to see Lucas standing there, smiling.

"Hey, huckleberry." Maya smirked. Maybe this won't be so bad.

He laughed, "Huckleberry, really?"

Maya shrugged, "Even though you're not a cowboy, you still look like one."

"MAYA!!!! HOW WAS DETENTION WITH LUCAS-O-HOTTIE FRIAR?!"

Oh my god! Riley is sooooo going to be embarrassed. Once she approached me and saw Lucas, she turned as red as a tomato.

"Umm...." Maya had to get Riley out of this awkward situation...

"So, Riley. Lucas and I are friends now." Maya smiled.

"Really? That's great... Um, I'll see you guys in history." Riley glanced at us then at her feet as she walked away.

Maya and Lucas looked at each other and walked to history class.

At lunch, Lucas sat with Maya and Riley. Riley didn't seem as embarrassed but she was still quiet most of lunch.

"So Maya, you never told me how exactly you and Lucas became friends. I mean, yesterday you hated him and now you're friends."

Lucas looked at Maya and raised an eyebrow, "Really? You hated me? I'm offended."

Maya rolled her eyes, "Don't go crying now, huckleberry. It was nothing personal." I shrugged.

"Nothing personal? You hated me, how is that not personal?" He scoffed.

Maya laughed, "I guess it is."

Riley cleared her throat, both Maya and Lucas looked at the brunette, "You two sound like an old married couple."

Lucas and Maya looked at each other, before bursting into fits of laughter.

Riley frowned; she didn't know why that was so funny. "Why is that so funny?"

Maya finally stopped laughing and spoke, "Because, Lucas and I will never be a couple. So there's no way we'd even be married."

That wasn't the reason Lucas was laughing....

Maya and Riley was sitting on the couch in Riley's apartment, they were just about to watch The Longest Ride.

"Maya?"

"Yeah?" The blonde looked at her best friend.

"Why don't you think you and Lucas will ever be a couple?" Riley raised an eyebrow.

Maya sighed, "This again? Why are we even talking about this? Aren't you the the one that thinks he's hot?" Maya wiggled her eyebrows as she referred to the incident that happened earlier.

Riley flushed a bright red, "Let's not talk about that!" She chucked a pillow at Maya.

Soon, it turned into a pillow fight with both the blonde and the brunette laughing their face off. After they were done with their pillow fight, Riley put the movie on.

It was 2:00 A.M, Maya had just woken up. She was just about to get up and get a drink when she heard a noise... Beep. Who could possibly be texting her at 2 o'clock in the morning? Once she read the text she froze.

Unknown: Be at the old church in five minutes. Come alone, bring anyone and there WILL be consequences. And don't show up? Well, that'd be even worst.

Maya had no choice, she had to show up she didn't know what the person was going to do. She was scared; Maya Hart was actually scared, but she had to do this.

She made her way to the old church, she didn't understand why she had to go there, was they planning something?

Once she arrived, she was even more frightened. Usually, Maya loved coming here, now? She hates it. She made her way up the stairs and slowing opened the door, hearing the creaking of the door as it opened. Once she stepped into the building, lights turned on and what she saw before her scared the shits out of her. There were pictures of her everywhere, but that wasn't what frightened her. In the centre of the room, blown up, was a photo was her doing the one thing she regretted the most; and the one thing she wanted to forget. She gulped, she didn't want to see anymore of this. She ran for the door but some magical force closed it before she made it there, she tried to opened it but it was locked. She banged on the door and screamed, she was balling her eyes out, what was going to happen to her?

All of a sudden she heard a voice,

"Maya, Maya. How does it feel to be the victim?" Maya turned around to see a video was playing, but you couldn't see the person.

"It doesn't feel very nice, does it? Maybe you should have thought about that before you did what you did. I don't care if you regret what you did or if it was an accident, you shouldn't get anyway with it. That's what I'm here for, I'm here to make your life a living hell. I'm going to target your loved ones one by one until you break, who's first on the list, huh? Let's see. Miss Katy Hart, poor Katy Hart, having to raise her daughter all my herself.."

Maya saw her mother laying in bed, sleeping. No! Not her, not mum! Maya didn't want her to be the cause of her mum's death.

Before Maya could scream, the voice spoke up, "Relax, Maya. I won't kill her, yet. That'd be too easy, and I'm here to punish you. I just wanted to show you that I mean business, so here's a little message. Sweet dreams, Maya." She heard a wicked laugh before she saw a knife run down her mum's arm, cutting it open.

"No!"

Maya banged on the door, trying to get it open. Finally she did, she bolted out the door but knocked into someone in the process. Maya wasn't in the mood to say sorry, she was just about to bolt home when she heard, him.

"Maya?"

She turned around, "Lucas? What are you doing here?"

"I was going for a walk, and decided to visit the old church. What happened to you?"

Tears were steaming down her face, her vision was getting blurry. She furiously wiped them away and shook her head, "Nothing. I have to go."

With that, Maya bolted back to her place, leaving Lucas staring at her.

Phew. First dramatic-ish chapter done! Just wait, there's more dramatic events coming up.

1,000 words for a chapter? I know it was a shitty chapter but still 1,000 words! That an accomplishment for me!

Now, I'm going to start updating both my books every Friday. The only problem with that is, where I am it is Friday (well, it's actually 11:52 pm so not quite Friday but still) but for some of you guys it's Thursday.

So, for me I'll be updating Friday's but for some of you's I'll be updating Thursday's. It depends where you live!
