Chapter 7

Paul loaded up his rifle, and took another deep breath. It could be his last, so why not inhale a good amount of radiation into your body? Paul stepped out of cover, and raised up his rifle. He opened fire at the Zodiacs, already taking one down within the first few hits. They all turned with their Blasters readied. Paul saw their weaponry, and immediately drove his body into a nearby 99€ store. The Zodiacs opened fire, blasting parts of the inner store.

Paul's heart was beating, and looked down at his belt. There was a single flash grenade. Normal grenades would merely push a Zodiac back, but a flash bang would burn their eyes. Paul pulled it out of its socket, and tossed it at the Zodiacs. At first, he heard the scrambling of feet, then he exited out the store after the bang. Nearly all of the Zodiacs were at their knees grabbing onto their skulls. Paul aimed his rifle at their heads, and opened fire. By the time they were back to normal, half of them were already down.

Paul immediately reloaded his rifle before the Zodiacs could pick up their Blasters. Then, Paul ran back inside the store, and found himself back at square one. "Come out or else everyone in here dies!" One of them yelled, aiming his blaster at the door. Paul began searching the store for some type of shield or atleast another exit. There was a back alleyway exit, so Paul had a plan.

He exited out the backway, and found a ladder leading to the roof of the store. It was surrounded by a fence, but Paul jumped it then climbed up the ladder. When he was on the roof, he loaded up his rifle and began crawling his way to the edge. "Take some of them out." One of the Zodiacs ordered the others in the metro. Within a minute's time, they had dragged out three people. An old man, a younger man, then there was Janice.

One of the Zodiacs aimed their blaster at the back of the old man's head, and blasted it off. Paul gasped silently, then fire raged in his eyes.

"No! Please!" The young man cried out. Janice stared at him in terror, as the Zodiac approached him. The Zodiac aimed the blaster at his back, and blew a hole into his chest. He fell to the ground with a great heave. "You pathetic humans," the Zodiac laughed, "your opposite gender is praise-worthy. You care about them so much, yet still stand by as they die. This one will die slowly, just for you."

"No!" Janice cried. She began struggling against the grip of the two Zodiacs holding her. The Zodiac aimed his blaster at Janice's back head, and grinned. Paul fired a shot at the Zodiac's head, getting a clean strike into the skull and putting it down. Then Paul opened fire at the rest of the Zodiacs. He quickly mowed down the ones holding Janice, then fired at the remaining few, then at the ones coming up the stairs.

Janice fell to the ground once she was free, but quickly stood up. There was a blaster infront of her, and she picked it up. It was quite heavy for her, she almost dropped it. However she used her might an held it up and aimed it at one of the Zodiacs coming up the stairs. She suddenly froze, as it made eye contact with her. This thing, it saw her and would probably kill her.

Janice pulled the trigger, and the blast created enough force to deattach the upper body from the lower body. She was shocked, and began shaking.

Paul reloaded his magazine after dodging another blast. He saw another hanger incoming, and immediately looked at his belt for his remaining clips. He didn't have that much ammunition. Suddenly, crowd charged up the stairs with shotguns and rifles. They immediately took down the remaining Zodiacs on the ground, and then opened fire at the Hanger. However, it didn't land. It hovered twenty feet over the ground, it's beam cannons slowly sparking up. "Move!" Paul yelled, opening fire at the left side of the Hanger.

The crowd immediately splitted apart, but the quick small blue orb blew into the ground and blew apart a few men. Janice was now up on her feet, and trying to aim the blaster up to the Hanger. "Janice!" Jonas called out, running down the street. Janice turned around and saw him. "Come and help! We can take it down!" She pleaded.
