Chapter 10

Paul stood out in the cold air. He saw a few men standing out there with him, including Roger. He noted Paul, and gave another of his grins. Roger gestured Paul closer, to which Paul obliged.

"Paul, this here is Alexander, Bill, and Mick." Roger pointed out three different men. They were older than both Paul and Roger, and they held high-tier weaponry in their arms and strapped to their back.

"Nice to meet 'ya, Paul." Said Bill, the youngest one out of them all. Mick nodded, scratching his thick black beard. "Are we going to go or what? I want to kill some fucking aliens!" Alexander asked, turning the safety off his rifle. Paul glared at Alexander, then back at Roger. "Keep your ass in tact, Alexander. Last time you accidentally killed a man." Roger reminded him. Alexander grinned and joked, "Bastard shouldn't of gotten in my way." Mick chuckled, but Bill shook his head slightly.

"Well anyways," Roger chuckled, "it's about a mile up North. I saw them moving." Everyone agreed to it, and began their travel.

In an hour and a half's travel, they had made it to a local park that had been fenced up as a survival post once, but was now a Zodiac captive base. There were obvious Zodiacs standing around the perimeter, while the captives and more Zodiacs stood inside the park. The group was hiding behind a shipment truck up the street.

"See that?" Roger asked Paul.

Paul nodded, and loaded his up his rifle. "How is this gonna go down?" Alexander asked.

Roger peaked out from the truck and saw three Zodiacs talking between each other, in the middle of the outter fence area. This left some small opening room to the left and right sides of the gate.

"See those openings? Me and Paul will jump that fence, and begin our way to the captives. Bill, Alexander, and Mick. . .you're going to pick off the Zodiacs outside the fence. When the bullets fly, you'll be able to fire from their back."

Bill and Mick nodded, but Alexander shook his head and protested, "Nah. Let's just go gun-blazing. Let those Zodiacs inside know we're coming after them."

Paul turned to him and said, "We do that, we're going to get chased. If we follow Roger's plan, by the time reinforcements come we'll be long gone."

Alexander gave Paul a face of disgust and croaked, "Listen here you little fucker. I've done this way more than you. Only lost five guys, but goddamnit they were bad anyway."

"Alexander, shut the fuck up. We're doing my plan. If you fire a loud bullet, we're going to blast you up." Roger sighed at Alexander. Alexander shook his head, but agreed to the plan anyway.

"Alright. Paul, you take the left gate and I will take the right." Roger said, stepping out of cover. Paul made his way to the left side of the gate, his rifle out and ready. His eyes were stuck on the Zodiacs, but his body creeped to the gate. He looked over his shoulder, and saw the other three chatting to each other about how to take out the Zodiacs. Alexander seemed lost in own thoughts, however.

Paul approached the gate, and looked around. No Zodiacs approaching his location, so he began his climb up the fence. He could see Roger climbing his side of the fence. The other three were already on their move to the Zodiacs standing outside the fence.

Paul jumped onto the grass, and kept himself in a crouched position. He sneaked his way behind a tree, and peaked out at the main area of the park. A huge group of captives huddled near each other, circled by several Zodiacs. Other Zodiacs walked around the park, just like the two passing by Paul's tree. Paul pushed himself against the tree, and felt his left leg. Out of a satchel he pulled out a hunting knife. He glued his eyes to the Zodiacs as they passed by, and gave a sigh of relief after they were a good distance away.

Paul looked across the park, and saw Roger aiming his rifle at the Zodiac group already. Paul noted, and then turned towards the alien circle. He got closer by a few trees, then buried himself half-way into a bush. He was waiting for Roger to pull the trigger.

Suddenly, gunshots echoed from behind. Paul immediately spun around, and saw Alexander blasting down the two Zodiacs from just a few seconds ago. He held out his rifle, and yelled, "Come and get me, bitches!"

Paul turned back to the Zodiacs in the middle. They aimed their Blasters at Alexander, but were delayed by Roger's gunfire. Two of the Zodiacs turned to the captives, and aimed their Blasters at them.

"No!" Paul protested, opening fire at those two. Before the bullets smacked them down, they had already blown four people's faces off. Bill and and Mick began firing from outside the fence, almost instantly taking two Zodiacs down.

Alexander ran in closer, still blasting gunfire. "Yeah bitches! Fuck yeah!"

After a solid minute of repetitive gunfire, the final Zodiacs collapsed. Paul stood up from the bushes, and glared at the joyful Alexander, noting his blood-hungry smile.

"What the fuck?!" Roger said, storming up to Alexander and shoving him.

Alexander's smile faded away, and he looked at Roger in confusion. "I got the fucking job done quicker. What more do you want?!"

"You risked everything," Paul chipped in, approaching him, "they killed four captives just because we gave them the chance. No, you gave them the chance."

"Hey. ..you, shut the hell up!" Alexander snorted. "I'm the only one here actually doing work!"

Paul shook his head and turned to the remaining captives. He approached them, lowering down his rifle.

"You're free now. Right now, we don't have much time to escort you all back. . .but about-"

The low humming stopped Paul. He looked to in the night sky, and saw three Tracker ships hovering closer. "Scramble! Everyone just fucking scramble!" Paul yelled, turning around and busting out into a sprint. Everyone quickly scrambled around, but all went seperate ways.

As Paul was climbing the fence, he looked over his shoulder. The bottom pit of the Trackers slid open, and out of each one fell a black husky giant. It was the Hounds.
