I was sat at Nick's on his sofa with his arm around my shoulder. I must admit it felt kinda nice. Nick's friends were so nice and made me feel welcome and included me in conversations. The only person that wasn't was Jess. Nick leant towards me and whispered in my ear.
"You okay?" He was checking I wasn't feeling overwhelmed. Bless him.
"Yeah, Jess seems a little off though."
"Don't worry about her. Everyone else seems to love you." He sat back and smiled at me and I blushed.
"Awe look at that, Lena's blushing. Oh my god. You're totally crushing on Nick. Oh isn't that sweet." Jess piped up in a mocking voice.
"Jess, give it a rest. Leave Lena alone." Gabby snapped at Jess.
"Oh would you look at that. You're winning them over Lena. Winning over my friends. Tell me Lena, where are your friends that I can win over? Oh that's right you don't have any." She threw me this evil smirk and I felt tears stinging my eyes.
"Jess, what is your problem?" Nick sounded pretty pissed.
"My problem? My problem is that you've just invited Lena into one of our group nights in and you didn't even ask us."
"Last time I checked, this was my house and I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to invite whoever I want into my home."
"Oh well this is brilliant." Jess started laughing. "You like her don't you Nick?" Everyone in the room was looking at us. I wanted to scream at Jess but I just sat there.
Nick looked at me. "You know what, I do like Lena. I like her a lot. I think she's an incredible girl with the face of an angel and I won't let you make me think I should be ashamed of liking such an amazing girl." A huge smile spread across my face.
"Ayyy, Lena's done the impossible. She's won over our boy!" Daniel jeered.
"Oh shut up Mr I Haven't Had A Girlfriend Since I Was Nine." Nick joked back. Daniel sneered at him and Shane laughed.
"Is that what she is to you then Nick? You're girlfriend?" Jess had ruined the mood again.
"Not yet, but I'm hoping she will be."
"Oh well wouldn't that be a magical experience." Jess sarcastically spat.
"Jess. I've had enough of you. Get out. Now." Nick pointed towards the door.
"Fine. Gabby, you coming?" Jess stood in the doorway looking hopeful towards Gabby.
"Actually, Jess, I'm gonna stay here and hang with Nick and Lena. I wanna get to know her more." Gabby smiled at me and I smiled back.
"Of course you do. Have fun losers." And with that she stormed out.
"So Nick. Now the Ice Queen has gone, do you want to bring Lena as your plus one to my cousins wedding?" Shane was winking at me.
"That depends on whether the lovely lady herself would like to accompany me?" Nick turned to me.
"Well how on earth could I decline such a lovely offer?" I smirked.
"Well you're added to the guest list then. And don't worry, the Queen of Mean isn't invited." Shane laughed.
"Hey Lena, you busy tomorrow night?" Gabby asked and Samantha smiled.
"Um, I don't think so, why?"
"Well, how would you like to come over to mine and stay the night? Sam's coming. Jess isn't don't worry, she doesn't even know it's happening."
Samantha started laughing. "Wait you didn't tell her?"
"No! Of course I didn't. Are you mad? Last time she came to mine my mum grounded me for a week. She's officially banned from my house!" Gabby laughed as she took a sip from her drink. "So Lena, you up for it?"
"Sure, sounds like fun!"
"Great! Don't worry, Sam's driving us back to my place so bring your stuff to school with you."

"Well I think that went pretty well." Nick said as he walked into the kitchen where I was perched on the counter.
"Yeah, they all seem so lovely!" I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Sorry about Jess. She's just jealous because she knows I'm not into her."
"What's the deal with you two anyway?"
"There is no deal. We weren't even together. She was obsessed with me and wanted to get with me but I wasn't interested so she stuck to all my friends like a leech. We've all been trying to get rid of her but she's not having any of it."
"Oh. Also did you really mean what you said?"
"Mean what?"
"When you said you wanted me to become your girlfriend?"
"Of course I did. But if you're not ready to I totally understand."
I pulled him in closer and kissed him. "Are you kidding? I'm totally ready." He looked me in the eye and then leant in.
For those few moments, everything I'd ever felt unsure about became solved. I felt so at home with his lips pressed against mine. He tasted so sweet. As the kiss deepened I opened my mouth to let his tongue slide in and I felt fireworks deep in my chest. It sounds so cliché but I swear it happened. My first kiss was exactly how they are in those high school movies.
When he pulled away I moaned quietly in disappointment.
"So just to be clear, we're together right?" Nick asked, a sudden look of confusion crossing his face.
"Yes. What was unclear about my answer?" I joked.
"Nothing. Just my brain turned to mush as it happened."
"Is that a good thing?" I asked, worried about my kissing skills.
"Oh god yeah. 100%. You're a good kisser."
"Considering that was my first, that's the best compliment you could've given me."
"Now that's hard to believe."
"What is?"
"That, that, was your first kiss."
"Well you better believe it because it's true."
"Is it too early to say I love you?"
"Possibly." His face dropped slightly. "But I won't mind if you say it. Because maybe I feel the same back."
"Come on. I should probably take you home now. Your mother is probably wondering where you are."
"No, my mums probably just happy that I've left the house."
We laughed as he helped me off the side. Man was my mum going to flip when I told her about tonight.
