The second leg of the On With The Show tour was finally over, a long break awaited the five members of the band and if they were all honest, they needed it. Badly. They hadn't had a schedule like the one they were trying to keep up with in quite some time and even though they hardly looked or acted their age, still, they felt it after those exhausting flights and even more exhausting shows. Musicians half their age didn't put on a two to three hour shows anymore. They were proud and it made them happy, but that question did linger in everyone's mind, including the fans, just how much longer could they keep this up?
Well, that was the very last of Stevie's worries right now. She was home at last, she could finally concentrate on decorating her new place in Malibu and she always loved spending money to make her home look beautiful, and what's more - her best friends were coming later for a good ol' girls night, which she was really excited about.
"How does it look at the moment? I mean, we can have a party there tonight, right?" Stevie asked her assistant, who had already visited the place, as they were driving there.
"Um, sure." Karen shrugged. "It's not like you'll need electricity, you'll lit up every inch of the house with candles anyway."
"Be serious for a second?"
"I am being serious. The walls are painted." She added, indicating that the house was not livable yet.
"I see... You said this man you've hired, he's good at his job. Can't he work a little faster?"
"Oh my God, Stevie! He just came in and he's already done quite a bit. You're so impatient."
"No, I just thought it would at least be okay to have a party there already."
"Well, it's not. Besides, isn't it better his work is of high quality instead of everything being thrown together fast, but then you have to do remodeling in a couple of months?"
"You're right, you're right. I'm just excited about the place, the ocean is right there, Karen!"
"As it is back in Santa Monica."
"You're really grumpy today, you know that?"
"I'm sorry, you're not the only one who needs a break, that's all."
The drive didn't take that much longer, when the two women got out of the car and Karen was the one leading the way, with the key in her hand already. But the door wasn't locked, as she pushed it open and let Stevie enter first.
"The handyman is here, I guess." Karen said, matter-of-factly.
"I sure am." They heard a strong manly voice say, before they got to see the man himself. "I'm Chad."
"Nice to meet you, Chad." Stevie smiled, doing her best not to give it away she was clearly giving him a once over.
"Likewise, Ms. Nicks." He replied, with a small nod of his head. "I'll be out of here soon, I won't be of any disturbance."
"Don't be silly, I just wanted to see how things were coming along."
"Would you like a tour of what I've done already then?"
"Absolutely." Stevie said and followed Chad, while Karen stayed behind, rolling her eyes. She took out her phone to make some calls, she had no time to watch her boss drool over some buff worker. Although, she had to admit, he was a handsome man.
About fifteen minutes later, Karen put her phone away at the same time the two returned from 'the tour'. "I have a feeling, this place will look fabulous!"
"I'm simply following your orders, miss." Chad shrugged, with a sideways smile. "Well, I better get back to work then. It was lovely meeting you."
Stevie spent another moment with her eyes glued to the man; he was tall, obviously in great shape, his hair was graying, but it only made him sexier, she thought, his eyes were the kind of green she had never seen before either.
