Nothing impacted my school on driving with a seat belt more than what had happened On Sunday Month 18th Year. Mr. N was a first year music teacher. He was driving on his way to church, now let me remind you that he wore his seat belt every time he drove, but it was believed he had taken off his seat belt to grab something from the floor and had resulted in a crash. On the 21st me and my best friend went to his funeral. From this experience I and most of the school decided that we should wear our seatbelts. Mr. N was only 22 and it really hit us hard because for many of them it made people realize that young people die to. Do you know how many of your class mates had experienced a similar loss? Over half of the people in this room had experienced a loss or someone they knew suffered from a severe injury from not wearing a seatbelt. I did more research on seat belt safety and want to persuade you to make sure you wear it at all times in a moving vehicle and to make sure that other passengers are too.

Seat belts reduce serious crash-related injuries and deaths by about half. Seatbelts help keep people in place instead of having them from jumping and bouncing around in the vehicle and from exiting the vehicle in a violent way. In actuality seat belt safety is being practiced more and more. Even the fatalities from not wearing seatbelts have decreased since the start of seatbelts. But that doesn't mean that people are wearing their seatbelts. According to cdc.gov 55% of teenagers who died in car accidents weren't wearing seatbelts. Young adults, the majority age of people in our class is the age group in which highest death rates out of all the adult ages. In the Midwest according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had gone from 85% 2013 wearing seat belts to 83% in 2014.

Imagine walking down the aisle in a sea of the sad. To see the face of a young relative. The thing was that they weren't wearing their seatbelt. They were only going down the road a few houses, they didn't think it was a big deal. Then someone crashed into them. They could have survived if they were wearing a seatbelt, but they weren't. That's how it ends with the funeral you're at. The only thing ringing through everyone's head is. "If only they were wearing their seat belt.". It destroys many of the people there, no one was prepared for this young life to be gone. They had become another example in and a reason to wear seatbelts. That could have as easily been you. Freak accidents happen all the time, but wearing your seatbelt could have made it less sorrowful.

I want to persuade you to raise the 83% to much more than that. It's just takes a few simple steps to do so. Make sure that everyone in a vehicle has their seatbelt on no matter the distance. Be annoying if they don't. If you are driving don't leave or start the car till everyone is buckled up. Make sure if you ride with kids that they are always wearing their seat belts. Repeat habit helps make doing things like putting seat belts on a thoughtless automatic task. Make sure that if something is dropped in the vehicle and you want to grab it you pull over or wait till you stop to grab it.

All in all wear your seat belts at all times in a moving vehicle. The stats for people wearing seatbelts are increasing, but with your help in persuading others into wearing their seatbelts at all times you could save a life. Accidents happen all the time I don't deny it. People die in car accidents with and without their seat belts, but many of them who didn't wear the seat belt. Remember to wear it at all times and that those you are with in the car are to. be a reason other passengers buckle up their seat belts, don't be another example of why people start to buckle up their seat belts.

A/N:

I replaced the Month and Year, and had changed my former teachers name, because I felt that it was a more private thing and didn't really want that info out there. It's more of a personal thing for me and please don't judge it to badly on that. Of course I did say those things in my speech, but the Internets more Idk dangerous? I felt that it was the right thing to do when posting it on here. Also don't judge to harshly on the grammar it was of course a speech and I didn't necessarily type it up to look 100% great like I would an essay.
