I feel a hand on my shoulder and open my eyes to see Jonathan beside my bed. "They brought dinner. You said to wake you up if they did." I sit up and rub my eyes. I try to blink myself fully awake as I look over at the table.
"Thanks." I say. He nods and walks over to the table. I get up and follow him. When I sit down I notice the marks all over my arm from where I had been laying on it. When I sit down across from Jonathan I can smell the warm food. There is a piece of meat and some mashed potatoes. There is a little bit of gravy drizzled on the meat and potatoes.
I close my eyes and say a prayer before eating. Hey God, It's me. I know I haven't spoken to you in a long time, and for that, I'm sorry. But I'm going to need your help tonight. I know I shouldn't only come to you when I need help, but I do. I'm sorry. Thank you for this food. Amen.
When I open my eyes, Jonathan is already eating. "I need to tell you something." I say after I've eaten most of my food. He raises an eyebrow at me and I continue. "Don't get excited because that camera is watching us. We're getting out tonight."
"What do yo mean, getting out? How are we getting out? The door is locked and the windows are to high up from the ground." He states.
"Ben is helping us."
"Who's Ben?"
"The guard that brought us here. He's going to help us get out. After that my friends and I are going to break out of the walls. We found a way to get out by going under them. If you want to come you can, but Ben said he would help you get out. After that, it's up to you."
"Are you serious?"
"No. I'm totally making all this up. Yes, I'm serious!"
"Okay, I won't come out of the walls with you guys, but I'll definitely escape the building with you."
"Okay. Ben said he'll be here at 2 AM to get us. He told me to be ready and that if we're not, he'll leave us. So I don't think I'll sleep much tonight, or we could sleep in shifts so we can get sleep. What do you want to do?"
"Yeah, we can sleep in hour shifts. You can sleep for an hour, then I'll sleep for an hour, or the other way around."
"Is there a clock in here?" I say as I look around. As soon as I finish asking I see it. It's up towards the top of the wall between our beds. 6:00 "There it is. You can sleep first since I had a nap. We should probably go to bed around 9 o'clock so we can get enough sleep." He nods and takes another bite of his food.

Jonathan shakes me awake at 1:45. "Get up. Do you have the thing to cover the camera? We have to cover it in five minutes."
"Yeah." I say as I sit up and search through my bag for the sock. The light in the bathroom is on, which makes me cringe. I think about all the years the government lied to us about not having power. I find a pair of socks and take one, shoving the other back in my bag. Jonathan and I carefully move the table over under the camera. Then I stick a chair on top of it and climb up slipping the sock over the camera lens. I glance at the clock. 1:50 Perfect timing. I climb down and pull the chair off the the table. I walk over to my bed and fold up my blanket and shove it into my bag. Jonathan is packing his things as well when I decide to use the restroom before we leave. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom before we leave. I'm gonna shut the door for a few seconds. So it will be dark."
"Good idea. I'll go when you're done." I walk into the bathroom and close the door, leaving him in darkness. When I finish we swap places. I turn on Josh's iPod and shine the light towards the clock. 1:57. Jonathan opens up the bathroom door as I shove the iPod into my bag. I zip it shut and sling it up onto my shoulders. Jonathan pulls his up onto his shoulders and I watch the door. I look up at the clock. 1:59.
