Three burning symbols, a book of fire. A library on fire, a school in flames. The burning rain is healing the mockingjays in the air, one of them now is sitting on my shoulder. I got my mockingjay costume on, it has a scarlet red color, and I'm holding my bow in the left hand. Over me, flaming skies, the clouds are on fire, and under my feet I'm touching the blue of the ocean. High waves are washing off me the red blood on my arms, that comes from the revolution against the Capitol. Then I see her.
A little pink hummingbird is flying above me, crying. No, Katniss, no, don't go. Stay here. But I can't stop. I'm stepping into the high sea, my feet are already drowning. I feel the wings they are growing on my back, my body marked by feathers of light blue and shadows of purplish-blue. I see a boat, not far away from me, and I try to fly in its direction. But I can't move, my toes are glued on the water. It seems like the water is dark tar and I am a little, poor bee, blocked in this stuff. I am crying, screaming Prims name, and desperately trying to take off. Then, finally, I am free, and begin to fly. I reach Prim, I reach her and we fly together. Up, up and up to the sky, above the heavy clouds and the thundering lightning. We are behaving like kids, but we both know that not far away danger is waiting for us. Or for her.
I'm running in the forest of the arena. The flames are scattering behind me, I feel the heat burning on my skin. A fire bolt impinges on the ground behind me, and I try to escape the others they are coming into my direction. But by one of them I'm too late. And the bold reaches my leg and burns into it. I feel it, hot warmth and pain spreading on my leg. I sit down and wait. Wait to turn into a mockingjay.
I am on the stage of the Justice Building in District Eleven. I see Rue, her family under the giant screen with her image on. She is right there, not far away. She was like a little bird in the trees, I remember her. I begin to speak, nearly unable to say something. "Everything beautiful brings her to mind I see her in the yellow flowers that grow in the Meadow by my house. I see her in the mockingjays that sing in the trees. But most of all, I see her in my sister Prim. Thank you for your children. And thank you all for the bread." But before I can say something else, an old man raises his hand, with the three-finger-symbol, whispering Rue's whistle. And then the Peacekeeper shoots his head with a gun.
At least, sparks are igniting. But flames are spreading. That's what just happened to the hospital, in front of my eyes, here in District Eight. My anger is burning like a roaring lion, I scream and cry and want to end it all in one. "I want to tell the rebels that I am alive. That I'm right here in District Eight, where the Capitol has just bombed a hospital full of unarmed men, women, and children. There will be no survivors." The shock turns into fury again, the roasting anger in my chest makes me scream the next words. "I want to tell people that if you think for one second the Capitol will treat us fairly if there's a cease-fire, you're deluding yourself. Because you know who they are and what they do." My hands, trembling, indicate the terrible show behind my shoulders. "This is what they do! And we must fight back!" I stare into the camera, as to show all Panem the pain I am feeling. "President Snow says he's sending us a message? Well, I have one for him. You can torture us and bomb us and burn our districts to the ground, but do you see that?" The camera focuses on some burning stuff with the huge symbol of the Capitol on it. "Fire is catching!" I am shouting now, strong-minded that they won't miss a word. "And if we burn, you burn with us!"
