"Harry, come on."
Harry looked up. "Coming, Cher."
She shook her head. "I swear, you're always getting side tracked."
He sighed and followed her to the train.
Harry lived with Cher and her grandmother. After his parents died, she was all he had left. Her Nan was a lovely women but she was a bit of an unpredictable witch. Always trying new potions, none going right. She was unemployed and the only money they got was from the potions that they tried to sell. Money was tight. But Harry had invested a lot from his parents on his 11th birthday so it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately only he could use it, Cher's Nan had said. Not wanting him to "waste his money on them."
Harry never knew his parents. A dark wizard by the name of Voldemort had supposedly destroyed them when he was just a baby. Only a small lightning shaped scar was on his forehead. That was all that he could do to him. He wasn't able to touch him.
So then Cher's Nan found him and took him in under her arm. He grew up with them. He had people who had saved him and loved him. He couldn't of think of a better life.
They were 16 and starting the year at a new school. Hogwarts.
They were actually schooled at home due to believing it was best for Harry. This year, since they both have turned 16, Cher's Nan believed it was about time they lived in a more social environment. They did live in the middle of nowhere, after all.
So now they were boarding the train to Hogwarts.
"Come on," Cher spoke up through the crowd of people on the boarding platform. She grabbed Harry's hand and stepped up into the train.
She maneuvered them through the students and into an empty compartment.
Harry always trailed after Cher. He considered her his sister. She always was watching out for him. Making sure "Harry didn't get into trouble."
He was a pretty shy kid. He didn't like people. He grew up with no one but Cher. And that was all he needed.
They sat side by side in one of the compartments.
"I'm excited," she said in her usual giddy voice, breaking the silence.
"I'm not," Harry grumbled.
"Oh come on Harry, you're always so borrriinng," she whined.
"I just don't like people," he sighed.
"Well I'm gonna help you make some friends," she said, "I can't be the only one in your life, Harry."
"Well do you see me complaining?" He grinned.
She smiled. "No, but you still need to make some friends."
"I'll try," he said, "but no promises."
She grinned. "That's all I wanted."
Their conversation was interrupted by a knocking at the window of their door.
"Do you mind if I sit here? The rest are taken."
He was a tan boy. Blue eyes, feathery brown hair, prominent cheek bones, and very attractive. That was what Harry noticed first. This boy was unusually handsome.
"Oh, absolutely," Cher said with her usual politeness.
"Thanks," he said opening the door and sitting down on the other side.
He looked up at Harry and did a double take. "Oh my god! That scar."
He quickly quickly rearranged his curly brown hair.
