Mun's POV
I heard screams. Loud screeching screams that cut through the night wind. I was with Yus when it all happened. We spread out to better search them but I didn't know it would be such a bad idea until then.
"Yus, what was that?" I asked Yus looking him satraight in the eye. My voice was almost trembling in panic. His eyes rounded in shock. His face was more to a feeling of scare and distress. But, suddenly as if noticing my presence, he shook his head and steadied his conposure.
"Nothing. Its probably nothing. Let me go and have a look. You stay here OK." He said to me trying his best to conceal the concern he held inside.
"But, wait.." I tried to muster before he cut me off.
"Stay here! I'll be right back." And he was lost from my sight.
Yus's POV
We heard screaming. Loud bloodcurdling screams of agony. I know too well those voices. They were the very voices which yelled and screamed joyous sounds of laughter with me in class and not this crying scream of pain.
It aches me. I know I'm poweless against Zarif but I have to do sonething before he hurt anymore of our friends and I had to get to Putra fast.
I was about to turn to my superhuman speed when I noticed Mun beside me; staring at me with her big round eyes which was scared to death.
"Yus, what was that?" She asked. Her sweet voice quavering. I turned to face her and tried to force a smile.
"Nothing. Its probably nothing. Let me go and have a look. You stay here OK."
She wanted to protest but I quickly cut her off. How on Earth could I tell her that I made a promise to keep her safe? She would start making assumptions and bombard me with questions I know I must not answer. All for the sake of her safety. This was a time where the truth is better left unknown.
I quickly went to the new school hall construction site where I could smell the putrid smell of blood with my supersense. Then, I saw it. A mass of bodies strewn all over the entrance hall with blood smudged all across their necks and painted the concrete floor red.
I flashed instantly to them almost crying knowing that if they don't drink Zarif's blood after being bit by him then they will definitely die.
I fell on my knees beside a body I know so well as my friend who always back me up with anything. It was Amri. I cupped my face and started crying.
"Well, well, well. Who knew the little vamp could cry? Hahha.." chuckled Zarif as his voice rung behind me.
I lowered my hands and turned to face him.
" You did this!" I yelled at him though I know there was nothing much I could do to stop him.
"Me? Oh, Yeah. I drank a little. You know we should drink together sometime. You, me, Putra. It would be just like old times." Zarif said in return.
" Huh, you don't want that. All you ever think about is the crown and yourself!" I screamed at him already standing on my two feet.
" Myself? I think of myself? No. You two left me remember? You all did when you gave me up to the demons. Why didn't you or Putra was sent huh? Why me? Why?" Zarif lunged at me with his burning hatred. I did not blame him though but I pitied him of how he chosed the path of his life. Vengeance.
He retracted back into his calm self and put his hands into his sweater pockets.
He sighed."Huh. Now, now. Yus, you have always been the more fun and livelier one between us three. So, liven up. Your pathetic friends will live, or should I say living dead.hahha..." uttered Zarif. "Oh, and I think you might want to go find Putra fast. He seemed like he could feed on an entire army!" He chuckled before disappearing into the night.
